Posts: 32903 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Slamr broke the 'curse' and boated 2 today on suckers, a 40" and a 42". I got two Wabull fish, a 43" and a 35". The first sucker fish was really cool. The sucker got REALLY nervous, took off, and the muskie went after it on the surface. She ate the sucker, and Slamr pinned her up immediately. All in all, this was a great day. I got both my Wabull fish on tight 8's, 2nd time around. Nwild had one when we last saw him, and had moved a bunch! Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Posts: 367 Location: Chicago | Very nice day gentlemen. That will make this week a difficult one of waiting to get to Rhinelander next Sunday. Mr. Worrall, I made my reservations at 3G's; very nice people. Thanks again. Good job AJ.

Posts: 20232 Location: oswego, il | Sounds like you guys had a great day. Slamr could not get one to go on a lure? Was pretty good for us as well despite the rain we had all day.

Posts: 32903 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Slamr had several up on a Hughes River, but no takers. For whatever reason, the Wabull got a taker on the figure eight 2 out of 4 times.

Posts: 20232 Location: oswego, il | I bet with my recent HR purchases that I now have more of them than slamr. Would have been pretty neat to see that musky go after that sucker. Edited by ToddM 10/26/2003 10:06 AM

Posts: 7058 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I only have 4 HRs Todd, I think you have me beat! To fully describe this sucker hit: SWorrall gets a really deep flasher follow. The rod tip starts bouncing on the rod in the holder (sucker rod). I say "I think there is a fish on the sucker" Steve: "why you say that?" Me: "Cause the sucker just jumped out of the water.....and look, there's a nice fish behind it" The sucker tears ass across the surface about 10ft, muskie hauling to keep up. Sucker takes to the air again, muskie rolls on it, commotion on the surface....sucker/muskie now about 15ft away, can just see them rolling on around after each other. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Me: "Ya think the skie got him?" Sworrall: "I think so" Hookset, 40incher in the boat, and I watch the sucker swim off peacefully! Howie rig goes 2 for 2 on the day, didnt set the hook all that hard, both fish pinned in the corner of the mouth, both suckers survived to tell the tale, one swam off into sucker retirement, one got re-used, then released. Good day and a great weekend! Thanks again Sue and Steve! And that boat is gonna be one bad b!tch!

Posts: 32903 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | That was a cool fish, and a very memorable hook-up. I got as much of a charge out of the fish you got in Treacherous Bay an hour later. Hardly any indication anything was wrong at all, just alittle bouncing on the rod tip. Slamr says, "There is a fish on that sucker." seconds later, just a click, click, click...BOOM he sets the hook, and the fish was pinned up. One thing I forgot to mention: We didn't have a net. I had sent a Frabill home with esox69 the weekend before, and totally forgot to check the boat for my extra. Slamr had no problem landing the fish he got with only one treble, but I did a quick guestimate and LONG nose pliers release on mine to avoid the three sets of big trebles on the Wabull. Absolutely SURE on the 35, but the 43 might have been 42.5, or 43.5. It was heavy, had a big head, and good bulk. I guess it really doesn't matter much, I was a happy camper!
Slamr, any time. I had a great day out there, and the world's problems were solved with a suggested enema and a haircut, nothing better than that!!

Posts: 1310 Location: Washington, PA | First of all, they probably were trolling those suckers, second of all, those fish don't look THAT big. OK, so I'm upset for slamr sending me messages of a 4 fish day when I was stuck at a wedding.

Posts: 516 Location: Kildeer, IL | Steve, in case you couldn't tell, my post was a joke. I know you guys weren't trolling. It was a shot at Slamr. He and 52isntbigenough got into it last week on another board.

Posts: 32903 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Know about the joke with Slamr and his cyber troll accounts on MH. Just wanted to make sure no one else who wasn't in on the inside joke took off on the trolling thing .;) Heck of a day, lots of fun!

Posts: 40 Location: Maryland | Mr. Worrall I am trying to increase my use of the 8. Can you describe the difference between a tight 8 and a regular 8 and why you would applied the former in these instances?

Posts: 32903 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The Wabull allows one to do a manuver that really isn't an '8', but is more of an up and down movement with not a whole lot of forward motion. Once one is used to the bait, one can make the thing move up and down in a circle or 8 as small or large as one wishes. I had these fish directly under the bait, so I teased them with that motion and they T boned the thing.
