Posts: 369 | Hi everyone, this past week I was in Wisconsin and while fishing with my friend I landed my first muskie which was 34 inches on a orange and black Bucher 700 series bucktail. I want to et a replica made and I was wondering if anyone has someone who they would recommend and what there price per inch is. Thanks to everyone who has helped me and good luck! -Zachary Attachments ---------------- image.jpg (286KB - 315 downloads)

Posts: 242 | Congratulations! There are three musky you will always remember. Your first musky over 50", your biggest musky, and most of all, your first musky (which is usually the fish that gets you hooked into this sport). As far as replicas go, I have Joe Fittante currently working on mine. He unfortunately has a 10 month backlog, but from all the research I did in finding someone, he is one of the best. Good luck in your search for a replica and post a picture of it when you get it.

Posts: 1169 Location: New Hope MN | I really researched hard when I had my first 50" done. I chose Joe Fittante. He is not the cheapest nor the fastest. However, the detail and quality of his work is amazing. I'm extremely happy with my choice. His website needs some updating to high resolution pics, because the images there do no justice for his work. I highly recommend going to a show this winter and comparing all their work in person. They all do good work, but each has a slightly different style. You'll need to determine which you prefer.

Posts: 251 | I would recommend fittante as well. His attention to detail is great and he stands by his work. I feel that his fish look much more natural than any others out there.

Posts: 32892 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Rick Lax. he does great work, will match the fish as it looks in the image, and supports MuskieFIRST as well with the Lax Reproduction contest, giving away a free replica a year to someone lucky enough to win the contest. He's also a really nice guy and a hell of a Whitetail hunter. I have a couple replicas from Lax, and he nailed the pattern and colors exactly.

Posts: 238 | First, Congrats! That first one can be a very tough one to get. They're all tough, but now that your confidence is up, your success rate will go up, too. As others have suggested I'd encourage you to wait and attend a muskie show this winter so you can see the work of multiple taxidermist at one place. Lax and Fitante both do great work with anatomy detail but for my taste, Fitante captures the real color of the muskie and his attention to detail is unmatched - he even includes unique markings based on photos you provide. Good luck to you!

Posts: 130 Location: Duluth, MN | Fittante and Lax both do some awesome work, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with Artistic Anglers at all. They definitely do some of the best musky replicas I've seen.

Lax did exactly the same with my Goon fish. Nailed the color and markings to a T. Did the same with a giant crappie I got last winter. Can't go wrong with either, but my fish go to Rick.
