Now, I know why the United States Postal Service is Going Out of Business. Not only do they break almost every fishing Rod they deliver, But now the send your packages across the united states and back before you get it..Look at the Trip this fishing lure took before getting to New Jersey..and I still did not get it yet. LOL I Still Do Not Believe it.

That's absurd. I noticed that UPS and FedEx have been transferring some of it's deliveries to the post office. I wonder what that's all about.

There's nothing worse then seeing that when your looking at tracking...
I could only imagine the fury I would have seeing my package stuck in a location for that long.

They call the ups/fed-ex deal something like "the last mile". It's cheaper for them to pay usps to deliver something on a route that they will already be traveling on than to send fed-ex/ups out there. It makes sense on the business side for them but people's faith in the usps is going downhill so I'm not sure if it really is a good idea.

USPS SurePost is what they call the UPS/USPS delivery method. Once you see that, sit back and drink that case of beer because on the 24th day you might see the package.

I just told my USPS sales rep to take a look at this posting. Good example of why I USED to ship about $60,000 a year and now use the USPS for less than $15,000 a year in services. Sad because I know a few people who work for the USPS and they work their arses off and do a great job. My sales rep is one of them but how do you beat the "machine" that just eats shipments like this and then on top of it, the USPS never honors their insurance! At least I have never gotten anywhere with them in 10 years of shipping and $1000s of lost and damaged shipments along the way...

Guess im not the only one after all. Recently I had purchased some reels and as I was waiting and curious to its location I decided to check my UPS tracking. What the &%#$@ !!! I asked myself , what's it doing in Reynosa Mexico. From California to Mexico before getting to Illinois. Do you think I was freaking out? Unbelievable.

Ups and Fed Ex are both contracting to have the USPS deliver their "rural" mail. Some days Fed Ex delivers some days Ups delivers and some days USPS delivers the package. No rhyme or reason. The thing that irks me is Ups and Fed Ex charge you 10 or 12 bucks for a package and then it gets taken to the post office and they tie it up a couple more days and then USPS brings it. Most of these companies won't give you a choice on what carrier you want to use so they charge you twice of what it would be for Priority Mail. Everyone complains about the carriers losing or breaking things. They all break and lose stuff.

I bought a reel that sat in Sioux Falls SD for nine days, before someone decided to send it on it's way..

As far as the USPS/FedEx/UPS relationship goes, FedEx has a huge contract to fly the mail to the tune of a couple hundred extra flights during the daytime hours. UPS also cashes in on some of this. In return some delivery routes are combined as part of the deal. In my neighborhood that's not the case as I've seen FedEx, UPS and USPS all driving bumper to bumper up the hill I live on.

That said, the weak link seems to be the USPS.. It's up to them to get the mail to/from the FedEx and UPS facilities in the outlying markets. Clearly stuff is slipping through the cracks at the Post Office since everything leaves there in those ubiquitous sealed orange and blue bags. (envelopes are in stackable trays)

These are the links that tell about Ups and Fed Ex having USPS delivering packages. A lot of companies that ship free use this to lower their cost. Eventually I believe USPS will bring all packages that will fit in their vehicles especially in rural areas.

Speaking for us in Minnesota, we are examining the finish quality and color of the bait in great detail. we do feel however by the end of the 2014 season this bait should be on it's way to N.J. Ha HA! Government never did get the cost effective thing.

DHL has a similar connection with USPS. I bought a few small items on Ebay where the store shipped DHL Global, which then transferred the orders to USPS after they were shipped to a distribution center. The process added a day or more to the shipping time. One order sat in the distribution center a couple of days before it transferred to USPS. At least, there were tracking numbers to follow.
So, now I know what to expect from UPS and FedEx.
It also makes me wonder who was involved in setting up this wonderful relationship with USPS. I'm sure the government is coming out on the short end.

3 times in the last couple of months, UPS delayed my package by at least a week! USPS was making deliveries every day, but UPS was not! I live in north central Arkansas and the weather was the reason! Package was in Batesville, Arkansas for a week. Less than 50 miles away!

Guess I have been lucky, over the last 10 years I have mailed out several thousand lures and not one package, not one, has been lost. I have had a couple that were delayed for a couple weeks but only two or three times in 10 years. On Tuesday I sent three lures to Virginia, I live in Washington. I took them to the post office around 4:30pm and he had them on Friday morning! Three lures clear across the nation in less than three days for $6.50. That is amazing service. I use the USPS exclusively and send everything priority mail in the flat rate envelopes and have been really happy.

Well complaining about the post office is like picking on that fat kid on the playground....

The reality is they have there hands in both UPS and FedEx these days. All FedEx Smart Post Deliveries are made by the USPS and all UPS Mail Innovations deliveries are also made by the USPS. These are the cheapest alteratives for vendors and in the world of everyone wanting Free Shipping on #*^@ near everything more and more packages are being sent this manner. Not much you can do about it other than pay to upgarde your shipping if you are that passionate abou it...
