| Anyone make their own? Have any tips?
Or, if you bought replacements are there recommendations where to get some from?

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | I did this about 11 yrs. ago,....Took the boat to a nearby lake and let the Kids have some "fun", While I changed out the rotten bunks for some new ones that I built in the parking lot .
New wood, carpet and bolts, installed in about 2 hrs. for less than $50.00..... Oh,..... the kids didn't kill the boat ! AND I made some "DAD" points at the same time. Man,,, was I cool that day!

Location: Contrarian Island | i did the same thing to my old bass tracker..I only had to do one of the bunks and i just bought the marine carpet and a 2 x 4 and did it the lot too but if i had to do it over I would probably just buy the ones from bass pro... |

Location: Eastern Ontario | Jerome I did the same thing even used an electrical outlet in the park to run saw and jig saw my inner fenders were carpeted 3/8 plywood so i thought I was doing a good thing using 3/4 ply untill I found I couldn't get the boat back between the fenders. Had to make a run to the lumber yard and buy a half sheet of 3/8 and redo them |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Just did it last year. I had 6 total bunks on mine and all I can say is just buy them carpeted to save yourself some time. I found you can buy them complete for about $5-10/bunk more then doing them yourself. Mine turned out fine, but it was a lot more then 2 hours and I had the trailer in my garage w/o the boat on it (having a slip has it's perks  ) |

Location: Sw Pennsylvania | Replaced mine on my eagle trailer last year. With 24 new lag bolts, 2 -10' 2x6s and carpet it cost me around $50 and a few hours of labor. |

Location: Hayward, WI | If replacing the bunks it is a good idea to switch to carriage bolts instead of lags. It takes more work and time but carriage bolts with lock nuts will never fall out like lag bolts are prone to do. Just sink the carriage bolts deep enough in the wood so they do not stick up. Takes more work since you have to put the carriage bolts in the wood before you carpet the bunks but well worth it. |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | The poly bunks scratch glass but should be fine for alum. I know the people making them. They're in the process of redesigning them to be more glass boat friendly. |

| Anyone know where to get boards longer than 6'? I can't find any that would be long enough for my trailer. I want to say I'd need 2 bunks that are 12' and 2 that are 9' or so. |

Location: NE/IL | Contact the trailer manufacturer and specify exactly what you need or the trailer make. I ordered two new carpeted bunks last year from the manufacturer and they were shipped to my door. Took the boat to a local lake, pre marked the old hardware for corret angle for replacement, new hardware etc... replaced in less than two hours and back on the trailer on the way home.
Cost a bit more but done in no time. |
