With the sun, wind and rain we are suposed to get. It should go pretty fast. Im guessing ice out on all the lakes in central MN within 2 weeks. Just in time for Walleye opener. Its been way to long of a winter.
Let it melt, Let it melt, Let it melt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy...think what that ice will be like on Mille Lacs....being pushed up and on to shore.... Awesome force, but I sure hope it won't take out any cabins/houses...

Definitely nice to have the warmer temps back though... Wondered if it was ever going to warm up..

Dreamin of bein on open water. Could be...check that...WILL BE on the river this weekend at least trying to catch a fish or two...

I would guess that in NORTHERN Minnesota that this weather will START to melt the snow this week. I still have about 18 inches of snow in my yard as of last night. I don't think the wind and sun are having much of an impact on the ice conditions right now up here. It isn't hurting anything but it is going to be a while for ice out up here. I just hope the ice goes out by walleye opener.

Saw the weather on Channel 5 tonight and they showed a time lapse from today of the ice going out on one of the lakes down by Albert Lea.  Talk about giving a fellow a bit of hope.  Know that the wind and sun did some serious damage to the lakes in the area, but nothing open more than a few feet off of shore.  Ice is looking mighty dark and black, which is promising.  Not enough, however, to stop someone from walking out on it and trying to catch the last fish through the ice.  Some folks won't learn until they are swimming in 35 degree water.......

Gota tell ya guys! I've mowed my lawn twice already here in St. Louis. With all the rain we've had in our area, the grass is green and Kinkaid is rusty color. Did manage some largemouths last weekend but that was all...

We are finally starting to get our April Showers here in Oneida County..upper 60's comin up in the next few days and it looks like plenty of rain throughout. Then again, the forecast is just as dependable as the fishing charts..(some of our best days this winter were days when the charts never breached "good".

The icefishing might finally be over in the Bemidji area after this warm weekend. I saw a few guys out with 4-wheelers on Friday on Winnie but most of the accesses that I have seen are not even walkable anymore. A guy could probablystill go icefishing if you could find a new place to get on the lake. The ice is still plenty thick on Leech. As of last Friday morning there was still over 30 inches of ice (at least 20 inches of clear hard ice) on Kabekona Bay with about 4-5 inches of slush sitting on top of it.

There were probably 10 guys ice-fishing on LVD on Saturday. There was open water 10-15 feet from shore.

With the weather the way it has been in Oneida Co. about how long till open water.
Steve W. I want to put the pier in , but with the cost of gass I don't want to drive up in vain and have to resort to yard work or something as meaningless? Any guess?

Waconia was 95%+ open this morning. Just a few hundred feet of ice and slush left on one side. Now we just ahve to wait another 6 weeks for opener. LOL

Nothing moving in my neck of the woods.......few of the lakes have a couple of feet around the shoreline open.  Getting depressing!!!!!
