Posts: 32955 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Keith and I took off about 6 PM to a small Oneida country lake to toss a few baits and enjoy a rare evening together on the water. We hit the back bay slop and the fish were there...just near impossible to get in the Frabill! I got a 37 right off the bat on a Weagle that literally skied totally out of the water on the attack. About 5 minutes later, a hog eats the Weagle. Keith says, " That's a big fish, Dad!", and I agree, but it doesn't fight at all. I ease her up to the boat....and the Weagle is pinned up on the top of her snout just barely, and the line wrapped around her dorsal. Off of the dorsal comes the line...and the Weagle comes off too. Oh well, she was foul hooked anyway, but a clean 30# fish. About 20 minutes later, a mid 30's rockets out of the water with the Weagle in her yap, and burroughs into the slop we were fishing. No dice, she came unpinned in the goober, but that's OK, the strike was spectacular. Saw another that was trying to eat, but the slop kept that from happening. There still isn't much that beats an evening on the water with my kid. Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Steve, It sounds like you had a blast,.. I changed the rear hook to a huge #8 on a couple of my Weagles and it has helped in higher hooking % Man you got to love those top water explosions that the Weagle seams to attract.... Jerome

Posts: 32955 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | ricepicker, that is a fact. Got another tonight on the Weagle, on George, just a 35.5 but POINTS for League. We needed the points, there are a couple tams hot on our tail. Saw a BUNCH of fish on the Weagle tonight, but only one really hit it. I moved 8 in a very short period of time, it was a blast. And talk about a spectacular sunset.... Attachments ---------------- Muskie League Weagle.jpg (22KB - 189 downloads) League Sunset.jpg (12KB - 192 downloads)

Posts: 331 Location: Stevens Point, Wisconsin | The Weagle was really raising fish on LOTW's during my trip (JUN 28- JUL 15). Funny how you can cast a weed bed or area with bucktails and twitch baits and not raise a fish, but throw the weagle around and raise 3 different fish from the same spot! The weagle raised the most top water fish this trip, even out did the bullfrog top raider! Did catch a couple mid 30's and raised several nice fish but the weather really put the fish in a neutral mood during the two weeks I was there. Ed
