Posts: 568 | forgot to order leaders and a few other items I'd like to have before we cross the border in I-falls---any place open on travel day , the 4th of July . Driving up on Rt 53. Could shop on July 5th in I-falls but not crazy about their selection . Really need Fluro leaders and some DC-10 , double cowgirl type lures . Thanks MD

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | go to the Gander Mountain in Duluth....it is clearly marked and is about less then 1/2mile to your right on one of the side streets as you start to get closer to the outskirts of town. They have a nice selection of musky tackle for a corporate store

Posts: 336 Location: Wheeling, IL. | went to gander last week, had very few leaders and they have down sized their Musky selection. Not a lot of reasons to visit.

Posts: 66 Location: Onalaska, WI | Moudly's (owned by Terry Moulton creator of the Hawg wobbler)Archery and Tackle in Chippewa Falls is another possibility. I'm not sure of the exact location but I believe they're not too far off of 53. A google search should produce a map and perhaps holiday store hours.

Crazy D's 715-874-6993 Take Hwy 29 West from 53 about 7+ miles to 20th Ave. Turn Left, head south on 20th about 1/4 mile they are on your right, can't miss it. He will have what you need. Mouldy's Archery and Takle. Hwy 53 North, as you pass through Eau Claire on the 53 bypass you will want to get off on Hwy. OO Exit between EC and Chippewa. Turn left at the top of the ramp (Towards the Wally Mart). Go to the second set of stop lights, take a left on Hwy 124, You will see Mouldy's on your left side. Go to the next set of lights and take the frontage road back to Mouldy's. This isn't 1/2 mile off of 53. Either will have what you need. Ron at Crazy D's will make you what you want right there if it's not on the shelf. Mouldy's is closer, good service. Best, Mark Musky Adventures Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls

Musky Brian - 7/2/2007 11:47 AM there's also a hunting/bait and tackle store right on the side of 53 near Rice Lake,Wi...I went there last year before going to the 'Goon and got some stuff...it's on the east side of the 53, you can't miss it Its call Bear Paw and it the 2nd Rice Lake exit (heading north) on the hill.

Rice Lake place you refer to called The Bear Paw has a very limited musky section, you might find the leaders, but quite unlikely they would have the XX or XXX tails. In town in Rice Lake is Rainbow Home Center, same exit but another mile or so to the East on 48. They have limited selection as well. The Gander Mt. in EC sells pre-packaged leaders in floro and steel. So does Scheels across the road from Gander. Not sure of the quality or brand. Best bet you have is Moudly's or Crazy D's. Crazy D's has almost as much as Rollie and Helens, it's worth taking the extra hour just to see the shop. If you can't find what you want there, call me, I live about 5 miles out of your way and have all the leader material you need and could get you what you needed. Curly, Musky Adventures

Posts: 568 | Thanks for the offer Mark ----looks like Mr Crazy is going to take care of my needs ---My map looks like Elk Mound is 20 miles off 53 , is the tackle shop more like 7 miles off 53 as stated above ? MD

Yup, your map is correct. Follow my directions on earlier post and unless you drive with eyes closed ![]() 20th is approximately 7-9 miles west of 53 on 29. All 4 lane roads. Have a great trip....Tell Ron at Crazy D's we sent ya out there. He's a great guy, loves to B.S. His personal lure collection is displayed on the top of the walls in the shop, it is one of most impressive things you'll ever see.

Posts: 1438 | MD Mark's lived up there a spell and knows Ron over at Crazy's. If he says 7-9 it's probably 8 exactly. Once you turn on 20th it'll be on the west side of the road. Big white place, can't miss it. Pet the dog too, she's a sweetheart. Scott

Now I'm really confused...my map looks like 20 miles , your directions say 7-9 miles. Which is it? take a look at the map i included in the post above (taken from Crazy D's website). it lists 20th St as 10 miles from Chippewa Falls. Chippewa Falls is essentially at the intersection of Hwy 53 and Hwy 29. call it 10 miles. it'll take you 15 minutes to drive. of course, you should plan on at least 2 hours in the store...so much to look at and if Ron gets talking you'll be there awhile!
