I am posting an article regarding a lost 7 year old boy from the Nekoosa area. The missing boy in the article is my nephew. If you plan on fishing out on the river or you live around the Nekoosa area, could you please keep an extra eye out. They live across from Deer Trail campground on Cty Rd Z, so it could be possible he's made his way towards the river. Thank you much.

Andy

Do you know if they are still looking for volunteers to help in the search?

I know they had 300+ volunteers today. From the articles I've seen they were good today and plan to start again tomorrow morning. Obviously things with family are pretty hectic right now so I haven't heard anything directly from them since mid morning. Once again if your out fishing this weekend in the area, please keep an extra eye out. Here are the latest two articles regarding the story:

I just got off the phone with my folks and so far nothing has shown up. Sounds like they are going to take the dogs out again tonight as well as an air search using night vision. Also, from talking he was apparent very fond of the water and they only live 400 yards from the River. They live just north of the 10 mile so that would be the general area water wise. Once again if anyone is out musky fishing on the River this weekend please keep an extra eye out.
Thanks.

Man, this is scary to me. I have a nephew is "challenged". Lives very close to a river as well. I cannot imagine the heartache your family has endured. I hope they find him, alive and well. Thanx to whoever deleted "guest's" post, because that was not reported. God bless you and yours. My numbers posted earlier are for support, as well as searching.

The kid was said to be barefoot, and a rumor(please note rumor) has it that some footprints were found yesterday and/or this morning away from the river. We fished in the area of the dissapearance last night and at least kept an eye out on the way in and out. Lots of searchers seen in the air last night in motorized parachutes, which was comforting to see. Hope for the best.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. As of this morning Benjy has not been found though it surely hasn't been through lack of effort or support. 500-600+ volunteers per day have been out in full force searching and supporting. Many businesses and public service agencies have stepped up as well. They've had dogs on the scene, people on horses, and Blackhawk helicoptors doing searches at night using night vision technology.
The dogs actually had a trail on him Friday and tracked him near a consession stand at a campground across the road, but lost it at that point. There have been a few other signs/leads, but nothing so far has led to a find. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I'll keep you updated as I hear more info.

All I can say is he has been found. I'll let the article say the rest. Thanks to all those who participated in the effort.

Such a sad end to this story, my condolences to the family. Only a parent who has lost a child can truly understand the pain.

This opens up old wounds. So much sorrow for the family. NEVER LET YOUR KID SWIM UNATTENDED IN THE RIVER. Better yet, not at all. I lost a close friend to Lake DuBay a 10 years ago. It looks nice on the surface but things like undertow and rocks and...please be careful and pray for the family.

Condolences from my family. It seems there are so many unfortunate stories in the news these days regarding children. Very sad.

CRAP! (most polite response i could gather, at the moment)
All of our best to you and your family. Every time you wish for a cool breeze out on the water, it is him you feel on the back of your neck. Every time you wish for a fish to save the trip, it is him that gave it to you. Every time you see a pretty sunrise/ sunset on the water, he drew that for you, with crayons out of God's box. On earth, we are only shells of what God has planned for us. In Heaven, we are perfect. He is sitting on God's lap right now, and he feels as bad as you and your family does, but God is the ultimate consoler. Just think about how many musky spots he is gonna show you when you join him 50,60,70+ years from now when you meet again. He may think (because he is perfect up in heaven) this guy does not know these fish at all. I never met you, but my numbers are in an earlier post if you ever need someone to talk to, day or night, brother. Very sorry for your loss.
