| I have heard some great things about this reel. I just donated some money to M.I. and this reel will be my thank you gift. You see I was lucky enough to be one of the five winners of the M.I. reader survey contest and I won a free guided day. In order to give back I wanted to make a significant donation to M.I. for musky stocking all the great places we fish!
My questions if you have used the reel are how do you like it , and what brand, type, and size of rod do you like best with it?  |

| That's not much of an endorsement. Never had a Diawa Millionaire 5HS or 6HS last a complete season. Not built heavy duty enough for Muskie fishing. I think I still have the shells somewhere in my garage.

| Anyone have the schematics for the AC300? Or done any repairs/cleans on theirs? I lost shematic of the reel and I am trying to clean and oil it. The worm gear has some crud in it that I want to clean out but I can't figure how to go about it. I tried taking some of the screws out on the handle side but these looked to have Lok-Tite on them.....This mean they aren't supposed to be removed? Thanks. |

| Steve I own a Daiwa CV-Z 300 they are awesome reels the only difference that I have heard between the Daiwa and the St. Croix is that the CV-z has 7 ball bearings and the St. Croix has 4 or 5 I can't remember and something about the thumbar on the Croix is better. Shane |

Location: lansing, il | the thumbar on the st croix is metal and it is a full thumbar, the diawa is plastic and i think (not sure) it is only a 3/4 thumbar. |

| Ok I've done a couple of searches for this and can't find it. There was a thread about the AC300 and a way to remove a washer or ring so that the spool doesn't loosen & tighten during the cast. Some casts are smooth and the line flies off the spool while others, you wing it and yur bait goes 30 feet. Anyone? |

| I have 2 of the reels and the first one is broke. I used it mainly for bulldawgs and cranks. They are very smooth and cast great. Just really tough to set the hook when the anti-reverse goes out. I probably had only 80 hours on the first reel. The second reel works fine.
Are there any reels out there that work good and last for more than 1 season? I don't want to pony up $400 for a Calcutta and find out that sucks too. Before these reels, I used only Abu's and those failed also. |

| you will get lemons out of every brand
I have a couple Abu 7000's (the original red ones) and have been using them for 4+ seasons without even oiling the things. closest thing i have seen to bomb proof in a reel |

| I have used my AC 300 for the heaviest lures (22" Mother May Eye, 3 pounds, 10" Musky Snax Sucker, HR Shakers, Magnum Dawgs) and no problems so far. If yours failed it was a fluke. That said, my Silver Abu c3 7000 is a tank, and can also throw anything.
Curious what others have found because the Diawa Luna sounds good or I might pick up another AC 300 |

Location: Verona, WI | My wife got me an Avid AC300 Reel and an Avid Rod for my wedding anniversary gift this year. Took it and a couple of Abu Garcia 6500 C3s on a trip to Canada this year. When I got back from Canada, I sold every Abu Garcia I owned (8) on Ebay so I could buy more Avids. Great reel, thumb bar is awesome. My only complaint is that the bait clicker is really quiet compared to the Abus.

Location: Davenport, IA | I have a couple Millionaire CV-X 253a's. I think I now have 3 or 4 season on the without even oiling them. They are the smoothest and strongest reels I've owned. I think retail on them is usually $150 but I got one for $80 and one for $60. I think they may have discontinued the CV-X series and only make the CVZ now (a step above) I think the St. Croix may actually be the CV-X? Anyway I love these reels. All my Abu's have gone to junk fairly quick (6500C3, 6500C5, 5000 (1 BB, was my favorite abu)) |

andd i think they are the best reel for the money available.

| I have a cvz-300 Daiwa and love it. I had a St. Croix 300 and returned it because of the casting issue mentioned above. When I got the Daiwa it ended up doing the same thing. Open the left side of the reel, take a SMALL drop of super glue and glue the blue adjustment ring to the "least" position. I have not had a proplem since. |
