Anyone buy their reels on amazon? I am gonna get a new Lexa and it is 60$ less than bass pro and other online dealers. Just a little hesitant, don’t want a used or defective reel. But it would be nice to save some $.

Amazon is top notch if you need to return anything, I probably do 50% of my overall shopping off amazon.

And get Prime. I know i seems a lot at first but you get 2 day shipping on every purchase (almost)and they even deliver on Sunday via Amazon. Plus lots of cool shows to watch like old good Top Gear. And many times prices are lower than Ebay. Always check Ebay before I buy and I would say 70% of the time they're lower. Not a fan of bidding. And as far as the Lexa price I noticed that they have a few day price drop once in a while. Saw Okuma Komodo 364 for 120 once but didnt have the cash to pull the trigger. So yes go ahead and buy it without any worries. No problems with returning even if there is nothing wrong with the reel. Once they get it, they transfer you the refund directly to your account or i if you choose Amazon gift card. And you have two months to return.

I have prime and use amazon quite a bit. Never bought a reel on amazon. Think I will go for it. Excited to have this new reel and new rod for the spring!

Why? Plenty of fine retailers on eBay. Buyer protection...What's the draw back?

As a consumer I love them. $99 a year and I get free shipping with Prime and 90%+ of the time I can find my stuff there that is at or under other prices. They are also now my #1 retailer to sell to also. They sell 10 or more Vexan rod racks for me a day now.

You better pick one up for someone as Christmas present! ha ha Just search Vexan Rod Rack

Just bought the Daiwa Lexa wn300hs on amazon. 141$ and I got a 70$ amazon gift card, so after tax I got the reel for about 80$! Think I got a pretty good deal ??.

Yep don’t plan on using it much, unless it’s something I will pay off right away. The interest rate is 24%.

I have purchased a couple reels from Amazon and was pleased with the price and service. At my door in a couple days. Living in the north woods, I buy a lot of different things from them, ranging from shop tools to clothes to fishing equipment. The interesting thing is that for wood working tools and accessories I go through Amazon but the company is the same one I have ordered from for years, only now I get free shipping and use Amazon's payment system.
And the broad range of reviews from verified purchasers is a plus for me.

I'll pay more somewhere else, if necessary, than buy from Amazon. Would rather support smaller companies. I suspect more people would feel the same way if they knew how Amazon did business, or dealt with them as mfr's, distributors, or sellers. Just my humble opinion.

You might take a look at

http://stores.ebay.com/Alpha-2-Omega

Bought stuff from them before, with tremendous service..Picked up a lexa 400 for $197, and a 300 for $164 both NIB with free shipping.

Have bought 3 of my last 4 reels on-line. For vendors other than Amazon try calling the manufacturer if you're uncertain. I called Shimano a few times. Got exactly what I needed and when I went back I returned it (in-warranty), no issue. It's startling how much you can save by shopping on-line. Got great deals on trolling motors, saved on St. Croix rods etc.

I buy a lot of crap on amazon, My wife buys even more!! However I spend my fishing money at local retailers who give their everything to support the pastimes we love. I want these retailers to continue to exist in brick and mortar form where I can go look at a custom color, get some professional advice. I probably spend more money this way but it makes me feel better about where it’s going. I know many of these little shops give back a ton to the Musky community and do things And support causes Amazon never will.

I split it about half and half. I make the half hour drive to Rollie and Helens twice a year and buy all lures from them, and have bought a couple rod and reels from them. Most other stuff I get from Fleet Farm and Amazon. I don't consider Fleet Farm a local retailer, more like WalMart.

I would do this also if I had any local Musky shops around me. Where I am at you have field and stream and cabelas but their musky sections are like 1/4 of a fishing row while the bass gear gets 15 full rows to it self...choice is about 5 diff blades 3 cranks and couple bulldawgs...next to nothing in rods and reels...SO I have no choice but to order online get reels mainly of ebay amazon but order lures through rollies and Thornes most of time or go to waterwolf directly!!
