Posts: 410 Location: With my son on the water | What specifically have you guys had luck with to kill the mice that get into a boat or storage facility in the winter? Traps are 1 and done and much of the poison that used to work is no longer available.

Posts: 115 | Use glue boards. Dont buy the ones made for mice, but get the bigger ones made for rats. They can fit at least 5 or 6 mice per board. Set up a bunch of those in your boat and check them every so often.

When we had a seasonal cottage where we built our retirement home, we had an issue with mice and chipmunks. Then we used a combination of dryer sheets and a plug in ultra high frequency sound generator. That did the trick. I have a large storage garage where we keep the fishing boat and pontoon, along with a lot of other gear and we have two of those plug in devices and they seem to work. They do have to be plugged in to a 110 outlet.

Posts: 271 Location: davis,IL | For me I store my boat in an unheated 2 car garage. All I've used is one of the electric pest repeller from Farm & Fleet and have had no mice anywhere in the garage. I was getting them in my big tool boxes, but alas, no more.

Posts: 271 Location: davis,IL | Nope.... Like I said....I'm using the $20 electronic pest controller and have seen no evidence of mice at all in the whole garage. I prefer the electronic if possible so I don't have to worry about dealing with the chemicals. Edited by muskydope 11/9/2016 5:53 AM

Posts: 1247 Location: Walker, MN | I use peppermint extract on a cotton ball in all of my compartments, the odor stays strong for a long time. It smells purdy too! If you are storing indoors (garage or shed), you might consider leaving the boat uncovered as it will be far less cozy/hospitable.

Posts: 410 Location: With my son on the water | Thanks for the replies but I got a PM with a good tip. It is put pans of Antifreeze in several locations, the Antifreeze with Ethylene Glycol which is very posiones. In winter when everything is frozen the mice come and drink the Antifreeze and they are done.. I just need to make sure nothing else gets in it which is easy.

Location: 31 | I don't like the idea of them crawling/nesting even if they won't get in my boat. KILL them all! I put out some Farm and Fleet poison a few weeks ago and have found several dead mice in my pole barn so far… still available and works fine. I like the idea of the larger glue pads deal in the boat as a secondary measure.

Posts: 358 | Schnook der Cat takes care of a lot of mice, and we use " Fresh Cab " bought at KV Pet Supply, works well and smells goot too. This product does not kill rodents but seems to repel them in my boat and vehicles ! Schnook looks forward to winter I think. Edited by Cody 11/24/2016 9:47 AM
