Location: Minnesota | It's that time of year again. I'm out fishing nothing moving and I think should have gone hunting. I enjoy hunting just as much as fishing but I can't do both at the same time. Getting out in the woods grouse hunting is fun when your on bird's but where they were last year may not be where they are today. That's when I think should have gone fishing.then when pheasant season opens that's worse I go fishing and my dog's look at me like WTF .then deer season starts by this time lakes are freezing over and I might not make it out any more .life would be much easier if I just won the lottery. |

| After the widnr let all the minnesotans and the fips into wisconsin to "fill their freezers" deer hunting has taken the back seat to musky fishing for me here in wisconsin. For me i find much more enjoyment in pursuing a species that for the most part doesnt end up in a frying pan. But you are correct on winning the lottery, that would make being an outdoors enthusiast alot easier. |

| Unfortunately the only decent bird hunting we have in my part of Missouri is Dove, but the nice thing is that the season is now and by the time it cools down enough to musky fish the dove have moved on. I'm lucky to live on the land I hunt and since I'm not a horn hunter, getting a deer for the freezer is generally only a 30 minute affair. Of course if I won the lottery, I'd still have a hard time deciding where & what to chase. |

| I personally would rather spend time in the woods chasing woodcock and grouse than musky fishing in October. I know.....I know, but I'm usually on the water starting early April until late September. By the time October rolls around, I'm in for a change, and for me, there is no better way than enjoying the woods with my black lab and close hunting friends. If the temps get too hot to run the dog, then I'll head out on the lake again. The next 40 days are the best time of the year for me.....but musky season is a VERY close second. |

Location: oswego, il | Being a FIB I am fishing. All my hunting spots are long since gone and you need to be in the know with a landowner to get the good spots, then you can be exclusive. Not going to pay big bucks for a hunting club. Would need a new gun anyway for steel shot. |

Location: Detroit River | I used to skip fishing a lot to go chase after bambi's dad but I lost access to all 3 of my private land hunting spots in SE Michigan that were less than a 30 min drive from my house so my only other place to hunt on private land is in the U.P. I hate hunting public land because of other clueless hunter disturbing my hunting area that worked hard on finding & they come walking through trying to find a spot because they didn't scout the area ahead of time.I'm planning a few bow hunts & a rifle hunt in the U.P. this year but only because I want my son to get his first deer. I skipped hunting last year to chase muskie but could do that all that much because of the weather conditions. |

Location: minocqua, wi. | first year with the kid over a year of age and he's ready to go ... lots of training and drilling accomplished since his rookie/puppy year so can't wait to get into the woods. will still do some cast n blast days but more focused on shooting than casting when it cools down!

he's a Field Bred English Cocker Spaniel ... a flusher and retriever. if i'd known about these when i was younger i would have saved the time wasted on goldens and labs. they learn like Border Collies and are entertaining little buggers! |

Location: minocqua, wi. | i had a gordon when i was a kid ... this one looks like a mini gordon but hunts like a springer on crack ... just got in from the first time out for the year and he flushed a group of grouse about 6 of em, i got one shot off and we aren't having grouse for dinner LOL. he's gonna be a blast this year!!
