How big a deal is it to change out a lower unit housing on a merc 115? I have skeg protector on it now but the skeg is almost gone after a battle with a rock. All internals are fine, thank goodness. any answers appreciated.

Hiya,

I would bet for a lower price you could get a new skeg welded on to the lower unit. By the time the work is done, and the lower unit repainted, you wouldn't know it was done if, who is doing the work does a good job.

If the housing is fine but the skeg is off...I would bet that is a much more economical way to go..
