I have two Cabela's AGM batteries that I have had for about 5 years. I tested them for charge before I installed them in the boat this spring and they both showed 100%. About a week later I went out and got very poor performance from the 80# Terrova. The boat was very slow even while on 10 power. Got home plugged in the charger and saw that both batteries needed a full charge put them on the chargeer over night and they were 100%. SOO last Friday 10 days later I'm getting ready to go out again and plug the battery charger and get 4 red lights indcating a need for a charge. Left the charger on all night. Get to the lake snd get the same result poor performance. Get home plug them in and get the 4 red lights on each but after a couple minutes one of the batteries shows a green light indicationg full charge in about 3 minutes.

where do you start trouble shooting? I probably need a new battery but if I need one I should probably get two. What kind of test do you do to see if a deep cycle battery is good or bad?

Take the batteries to the garage and ask them to load test them. Charge them first and take them soon after charging.
