Subject: Damaged Tuffy Bow Eye

The bow eye of my Tuffy is damaged, it is pulled out slightly and almost jammed in there. I have taken it in and out several times and it doesn't seem to be moving at all. Has anyone else ever had to had this fixed on a tuffy before. Just wondering about how much it will cost me. I took it in to a guy and he said that the tuffys are basically all closed up and sealed and you cant just get in there to tighten it up from the inside. Anyone have anything on this?

Don't know what Tuffy you have, but if you have the black port holes in the front bow, you can take the screws out of those, remove the tubes and gain access to the inside of the bow....same way you would when you install and mount a trolling motor. I would say you probably just need a few new bigger and thicker washers on the inside. Take off the nuts, add some thicker and and bigger washers and you should be good to go. I had this happen to a boat I owned several years ago and the problem was fixed when I added the bigger diameter and thicker washers.
