Terry,

Thanks for the feedback on Lake Vermilion. I am hoping to make it up there next for at least a long weekend next year. Hopefully I will be able to target the end of July into August time like you mentioned. I most likely will be hauling my 14' Lund up there to fish. I realize Vermilion is pretty big lake, but looking at the layout in the Sportsmans Connection Book, it looks like there are plenty of "musky" areas I could reach with the small boat and it not be a problem as I found out when I hauled my boat up to Leech this year only to rent a boat anyways. Oh well its my first year and I didn't know any better, besides I needed something to haul stuff up in anyways. In your opinion, what can I expect on Lake V with that size of boat. Are there enough wind resistant areas I will be able to reach and fish? Thanks.

Hi Andy,
Wind can be a problem if your in one of the large bays. However it is possible to avoid most of the trouble spots.

The large islands and the back bays, can provide some protection and there are plenty of good areas to fish.

There are accesss ramps all over the lake, so you can avoid long boat rides over rough water.

High winds from the west are the most trouble, but even then you can always get out somewhere on the lake. [:)]
