I have a 2002 200hp Opti with hydraulic steering that appears to be leaking. I see the rebuild kits are over $200. Has anyone just changed an O-ring to fix a leak? It appears my leak in from one of the bleeder valves. I have tightened as much as I dare. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Take the bleeder apart and change the o-ring. You will most likely get some air in the system when you pull the bleeder, so have some extra oil on hand to bleed it after you fix the leak. It is best to use the OEM oil but automatic transmission fluid can be used in a pinch, like if your out of town on a trip.
