I caught a muskie that had a gash strait up and down his side about 1/2" deep. It was healed over. I presume it was from a spear since alot of spearing has taken place on this lake. My question is could this injury cause blindness to this fish on the same side? I saw no sign of hooks or any other scars. And is this why I caught it?

I don't think the injury could cause blindness unless the gouge continued to it's head. You probably caught it because you were doing something right. Not because of the wound or poor eyesight.
