Just picked up a sucker rig with really "loose" looking knots (to hooks and swivel) in the wire. These are supposed to be "secret connections". I'm used to using crimp connections. Will these knots hold up to a big hookset?

(I'd mention the brand but I don't want to crash the post. Lets just say its a well known name.)

Thanks

I've used leaders like that before and had the same doubts, but they worked just fine. Some guys trust them more than crimps. I've also used 'twist melt' before... coated multi-strand that you just twist and hold over a candle so that the coating melts and sort of welds the twist together. I had my doubts about that, too, but it worked great. You can always get creative and do some testing in the garage if you're worried.
