i wanted to make more front deck space and make running the trolling motor easier with big boots on as well as recess the foot pedal into the deck.the reason to do that is to make it WAY more comfy to run the motor for long periods.the recessed pedal cost me the top 2 center rod storage tubes but there are still 12 left and you can easily get 2 rods in each tube anyway.i moved the front pedestal base back onto the rod locker deck. a 1/2" thick 15"x15" peice of aluminum was added to the bottom of the rod locker lid on the inside and the bolts go thru the base, deck and aluminum plate.it is very sturdy and has very little flex however in rough water i will stow the butt seat on the floor to prevent hinge damage.the deck modification really opened up the front end and 2 guys can easily fish up there now.
on the drivers seat i added an "oh #*#*" handle that gives you a very secure feeling while running the tiller in rough stuff.[it is just a regular utility handle that came from ace hardware, cost $5]there is plenty of material in the seat base to securely attach the handle with the supplied screws.on the seat base i added a springfeild marine slider base which allows you to move the seat left and right about 5 inches.that's not very far but seems like alot when driving the tiller and then sliding back to run the trolling motor.
the whitecap spalsh gaurds will tame the waves nicely when back trolling with the vector 3x 80lb.
although this is a GREAT boat right out of the factory these little mods made a very nice rig even a better fishin' machine.i absolutely love this boat!
