Location: Lebanon,Mo | just wondering if anyone could give me some advice or if you have done this before. i know its a big boat for a 40hp,but one of the "good" musky lakes down here is limited to a 40hp motor. i had a lund rebel 1650 with a 40,but i wanted more room.i have done some research with boats this size and weight, and have found that with the motor proped right,i could possibly still top out about 25mph. i have already ordered this outift from G3 and will be mine very soon. they have not tested this boat with a 40hp,but did with a 60hp and said it topped out just over 30mph. below is a list of things to maybe calculate and put in your info......thanks.
approx hull wt. 1230lbs
boat length 17'2"
beam 92"
40hp 4-stroke yamaha.
props to start out with 10 3/8 x 13 and 10 5/8 x 12
my lund rebel 1650 with three grown men and tackle still topped out at 30mph with the 40hp. (10 1/4 x 14 prop) 5400rpms i think??
i know of a lund 16.5 ft with full windshield that is powered by a 40hp with no problems, maybe a explorer???? |
