i make my own bucktails . on the mepps tandoms they use a plastic sleeve on the front hook i guess to help hold the bucktail coil for the rear hook in place and also flairs out bucktail on the front hook. does anyone know where you can get these sleeves

You might try Menard's...in their hardware department they sell hard nylon sleeves of various sizes pretty cheap...come 2-3 in a package. They are ususally in the slidng drawers near the cotter pins, etc. Hopefully they have one in the right size for your needs.
