Ok, I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to fishing with a baitcaster. I've been doing it for years. However, I get my c3 6500 today. Second cast, backlash. This, and yes, I'll admit it, happened three times today. I've never had that many in a day. Is this because this reel doesn't have any anti-backlash devices besides the brake (the knob on the side).
anyway, I'll go insane if I don't get the swing soon. Yes, I had the line on tight, yes, I adjusted the brake for each lure.
Ahhhh
but the g-loomis is simply awesome.

Are you using your same ole line that has worked for you? What is it? Is the spool filled to the brim? There are a couple of centrifugal brakes inside on the spool opposite the crank that might help a little. They are the little black or white plastic rectangle tabs when you open the side plate. If they move in and out freely they are "on". Though these usually can''t do much to slow down a musky lure, they are the only other brakes besides the friction knob. Good luck
