Subject: Question: LOTW on CD ROM with GPS interface

Hi guys,

I currently own a Garmin 48 (year 1999 model) hand held, which appears to have PC interface capabilities. I was also looking at a website called fedpubs.com, which apparently has the LOTW navigation chart on CD ROM. My gameplan would be to buy the CD ROM map and then download specific waypoint/routes into my GPS via my computer. This seems to be a much cheaper alternative than buying a whole new GPS system and then the specific cards/cartridges. Will this work? Does anyone else here have experience in doing it this way? Also if I did this with a laptop, could I take the laptop in the boat with me and have realtime plotting and scrolling capabilities as I'm moving from spot to spot?

Thanks,

"Jackpot" John Schroeder

Hey John-
Not familiar with the method you are talking about but I know the Mapsource fishing hotspots (garmin homepage) is coming out with a canada version. Will have Eagle lake and LOTW on it (and two other lakes that slip my mind). I just got it with my new Garmin. The reg price is 100 bucks which I think is high but I got a 45$ rebate because I bought my GPS at the same time.

Drop me a line if you have any Q's

Cory
