I recently purchased an 88 Rampage and am having some trouble getting the drain plug all the way in the hole. The hole has four cog's or "extrusions" evenly placed at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions just on the inside side of the transom. Each these little bumps or knobs stick out about 1/8 of an inch I suppose.................. I've already tried adjusting the plug diameter tension/adjustment and lubing it up. The plug will almost go in from the outside side of transom but once it hits those cogs, she constricts too much.

Has anybody ever seen a drain plug that is'nt perfectly round on the inside?

Any advice as to where I can find a plug compatible with a hole like that or what you would recommend?

Not sure this will help but what type of drain plug are you using?

If you have not tried the one with a "t" handle you might try it. I have a boat that you can not get the drain plug in place from the inside due to the way they placed the pumps.

A "t" handle drain plug will go in from the outside and you can twist the handle to get it to the size needed.

Hope this helps.
