Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> Rizzo rod, line questions

Subject: Rizzo rod, line questions

Made a trip last week up to Fleet Farm, some other places. Shame I could'nt get to Thorne's. I got a 6 foot heavy action Rizzo jerkbait rod, just because it was very inexpensive. Boy, is it stout. With that kind of action in mind, would it be a good idea to use a heavy monofilament line that is a little more forgiving (stretch).
Usually I use 50 or 65 powerpro.

Bought my first weighted Suick, and yesterday a Manta. Do you think this Rizzo rod is too stiff for the manta and weighted 9" Suick? By the way, I bought a Dancin Raider. Any advise on that bait?
Thanks,
Don

Dude, I have a 6.5 rizzo + use 30lb. Trilene Big Game on it sometimes....I like the shorter rods for jerks so the rod doesn't slap the water...guess it depends on how short you are. I mostly use P ower Pro though instead of mono depending on if there are a lot of snags. Hopefully others can give better advice, this works for me1[:sun:]
