I purchased a bottle of hot sauce lubricant for my reels so I can start doing a little preventive maintenance on my equipment. Can it be used on all moving surfaces or are there some areas in a reel that require grease?

I can only speak to Abu reels since that what I have run for the past 10+ years, I work on my own and repair them for a few local folks and have had good success with the following practices. I use grease very sparingly on the main drive gear and anti-reverse bearing only. Everything else I use a small amount of oil or Hot-sauce type lube.

During use I put a drop or two of oil on the worm-gear for the level wind. Other than that keep them clean, back your drag off when not in use and you should have reliable results.

Hope this helps a little.
