You know, Andrew...

I've always thought it was possible to perform "surgery" on the newer (not so new anymore) dawgs and replace the solid wire harness with 7-strand. The top hook really serves no purpose. A lot of guys cut that hook off anyway. I haven't done it, but it doesn't look all that complicated. IMO, the old 7-strand dawgs were superior in terms of action and fishability. No futzing, bending, or adjusting after every dawg ball cast, no bent up "this one's messed up now" after a fish...

Has anybody out there experimented with this? What were your results? Any tips and tricks? Does anybody know why they switched to solid wire to begin with?
