How do you all make sucker rigs? How long, what size hooks, wire, etc...? Is there a website with diagrams somewhere? I thought it would help pass the time this winter to make my own leaders/rigs.

Thanks!

I make mine out of flourocarbon. I don't have a whole rig made up, I assemble one as I need for the sucker I am using. Same can be done with wire too. I use my 3' trolling leader and attach two short leads with trebles to the snap or one if it's a really small sucker. Those leads are usually 3-7" long. I have a few made up to fit the size of sucker. I use smaller hooks, 1/0 or 2/0 size and bend one barb over and run that through the skin of the sucker. I put one hook on top in front of the dorsal, the other near the rear bottom fins on bottom. Often times if there is only one hook on top the sucker will ride upside down. I put a rubber core sinker on the line in front of the leader of 1-2oz. I attach the snap to the sucker through the nose using a rubber band.
