Let me ask you a question. I plan on replacing the trebles on one of my favorite baits with some from Gamakatsu. I recently reported a problem with the hooks on this bait, breaking or folding over after sharpening upon hitting a snag or a well embedded toothy critter. Unfortunately the bait comes with 4x strong hooks that are very heavy and in my state “NY” I can no longer purchase SuspendStrips due to their lead content. I was thinking about adding an additional split ring to the place where the split ring connects to the trebles to try and balance out the suspending Jerkbait (add some weight). Any thoughts or ideas? Will this screw thing up? I hate to try it out and find out that it deters hooks sets or scares fish, etc.
Thank you kindly
