Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | I always wipe my boat down at the ramp with BBS. I use Windex without amonia to get the water spots off my Lowrance screens....I'd reckon it'd get spots off other stuff too.

Posts: 87 Location: Red Wing, Minnesota | I wash the boat to remove sand/dirt, grease, etc. Then I fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar. I spray down small areas at a time and wipe spots off with a soft clean cotton cloth. It really does an excellent job of removing water spots. After I'm done, I rinse the boat and dry it. I then wax with Nufinish. There are commercial products that remove these spots very well, but vinegar is cheap and works! P.S. Wiping down your boat at end of the day slows down the rate of spot build-up. Edited by Spallgard 6/30/2009 11:41 AM

Posts: 307 | These products are over on Walleye Central and work absolutely wonderfully. You can search some posts over there to read the reviews. Use the Wonderfoam to get rid of the tough water spots, then go over it with the Restore boat and it will be as shiny as the showroom floor. Just be sure to follow the directions on the Wonderfoam. I also use both products on the rest of the outside of my fiberglass to make her all sparkly again.

Posts: 1316 Location: Lebanon,Mo | I like the water/vinegar mix for spots.Dont wait till the season is over to do it,but about every second or third time you pull the boat out. It's alot easier to keep up with it rather than let it build up to where it wont come off at all without using heavy chemicals.

| Limeaway works well too. I have had to do the scumline on my boat three times the last two weeks due to the hot sun we had last week. Just take a damp sponge, pour some Limeaway on the sponge and wipe away. Then rinse with water, then make sure you wax it after wards. Hope this helps, Lee Tauchen http://LeeTauchen.com http://LeeLures.com | |||

I was a little leary but no problem and all spots were gone instantly. A couple drops will clean it.

| i've used about everything mentioned above, cheapest is probably the water/vinegar mix..works great, CLR works great and Limeway is basically the same stuff... The Works also does the job Bass Boat saver after every use will keep your fiberglass and motor cowling mostly spot free... Pledge all purpose wipes come in handy in the boat to clean the LCD screens every day/use.... | |||

Posts: 90 Location: Ohio | I have a pretty good scumline on my boat and will have to give these a try. I just bought the boat 6 weeks ago and the previous owner must have never heard of wax or cleaner Edited to add: The scumline is the green staining on the bottom of the boat and up the side a partial way right? and will the White Vinegar & Water take this green scum off pretty easy? What kind of Rag do you use to scrub this stuff off, any rag or some type of pad? Thank You ALL Edited by Magic8Ball 7/12/2009 11:11 PM

Posts: 284 | Just read this same post and after doing so got out the White vinegar and water. I would say that I over did it on the vinegar but yes it worked. I used a toothbrush. And for the toucher spots a cheap scouring pad. I would recomend the cheap one though it seams to be much less abrasive than say your scotch pad. It didn't take much. When the scum still was not coming off I'd let the solution sit for a bit then come back to it. If I still had a trouble area I got out the shower cleaner. Only took 4 hours to wash the whole boat with a toothbrush. But now she's beautiful. Don't know if it matter I was washing a 17' LUND. I don't know if the suggestions differ for fiberglass.

Posts: 1 Location: minnesota | vinager and water works good, But I use scrubbing bubbles spray it on the rag and wipe it of at the landing, at home spray it on wipe it down and rinse it off let those little bubbles do the work. boat, motor, trailer, even keeps the rims shinny. no spots.

| i would suggest NOT using any kind of scrubbing pad on fiberglass...too abrasive and it will leave hairline scratches in the gel coat...soft cotton rags do the job.... | |||
