Not much has been made of it, but in case you weren't aware, the Omnibus Game and Fish bill that passed the house and senate last night included the following lines:
29.1(a) The commissioner of natural resources shall adopt or amend rules to establish minimum size limits for muskellunge on inland waters consistent with the provisions of this section. The commissioner must establish a 48-inch statewide minimum size restriction for muskellunge and muskellunge-northern pike hybrids in inland waters, except for the lakes listed in clause that are managed specifically for muskellunge-northern pike hybrids in Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington Counties; and establish a 40-inch minimum size restriction for muskellunge-northern pike hybrids in the following lakes in Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington Counties.

I also heard that the bill that would eliminate the requirement for darkhouse anglers to abide by the slot limit was defeated. This is GREAT news for the pike fishery in MN. |

| also did I hear we shot down the two lines proposal too yet again,,,,good riddens
the 48 min will benefit the twin cities lakes the most especially the MPL's city lakes where theres alot of harvest by imigrants

| You can always go to another state if you want to use 2 lines. No one is making you fish in MN. I am happy it is staying at 1 line. |

| for us who live here and have been active in the muskie scene for a while,,,you know whats next you dont need a crystal ball.,,,,,The anti s will take this and site that 'now that the min is 48 and muskie will live longer before possible harvest-then stocking quotas should be adjusted down has fewer will now be needed',,,that subject will soon be tried on fanoutdoors and bear facts and fishtails |

Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | I stopped listening bear opinions and fish tall tails years ago due to the anti muskie opinions of the hosts. I wish the hosts would base their comments on muskie and lake biology facts rather than popular opinion.
48 inch minimum statewide, it's about time. Thanks to the movers and shakers that got it done. Frank Schneider would be proud, as well as a bunch of others if they were with us.

| Happy, I would love to think the 48" minimum will help the mpls lakes but those doing the harvesting care little about the regs and the only way to stop them is to be lucky enough to catch them in the act. If anyone in the metro area has been fishing for awhile you've seen the "bucket" full of dead fish of all species and sizes with no regard for season, length limits, or bag limits! |

| it will help curb the fall sucker season on Harriet and houn,,,,if your familiar with the scene the "Johnny reb" who takes about 10 a year,,The eternal JD who thinks hes a miniature version of Eminem who needs an audience when he harvests all of the 40' legals,,cant put them on the stringer overhanging on the wall anymore,,,thats about 20 fish saved right there between two systems,,Ive called on violators in the past on city lakes and the CO was there by 45 minutes,

I agree the new limit will help the Cities lakes the most, but from what I've seen it's the born-here locals harvesting more than the immigrants. |
