Location: 412 | I've been using the classic Abu 6500 C3 for musky/pike. I have a medium heavy rod for pike and smaller musky baits and just got a heavy rod that throws up to 5oz's. I want to get another reel so I don't have to put up with switching back and forth on rods. I would like to buy a reel for around $100-150. I want to use bigger baits and big bladed baits like the DCG. I was thinking of buying another 6500, but I've read they don't match up to the double tens. Can you guys give me some good suggestions on reels? |

Location: Oregon | I have three Okuma Indurons that are working great. The only down-side I have found on them is the clicker.........can hardly hear it. If you put an oversized handle on them you can crank in about anything with ease.
Another good real to consider is the Tica Caiman. A friend has two of them and they have been tough!! Again........get the crankin handle.

| another vote for the induron! a good reel period, and at its price point, darned near unbeatable. also ditto on the power handle option, pulls dcg's with ease. |

Abu C4 or the Abu record are good choices
C4 is not a good choice for pulling double 10's and larger, hard pulling, baits. The high gear ratio will burn lures in, but it won't hold up to the stress (and neither will your hands). The gear isn't any bigger than the C3's, it just has more teeth. More teeth in the same amount of space equals thinner teeth which equals bad news for hard pulling baits. The C4 is a great mid priced reel to use for jerk/glide baits. Fast line pick up.

Location: c.wis | I like my cardiff 400 and 300, I have two and havent had problems. granted im only on the water 40 days a year, and I dont throw dcg all day. I do have a power handle now. and I wish I it before. with the power handle your at 140-150 ish., im a cheap shimano guy. I run okuma rods though. If I could afford it id get a calcutta te 400- good luck

Location: Irvine, KY | I know a lot of guys on here use okumas and love them. I havent personaly tried them yet but a friend of mine uses Abu EXT's for big blades and they seem to work really well for that application and these reels have a very loud clicker. i think they run between 160 and 170. a little more than the records, but Ive heard a lot of bad things about records....
another consideration is the Okuma red isis about the same price as an EXT unless you find one on ebay... i know some guys on here have gotten them for 100-120 bucks there, new in box... and Ive heard good things about these reels too.

| I would go with the Ouma Induron a very nice reel and I like it a lot for the big baits. They also go for around $120 (correct me if Im wrong on that) Still I love mine and wouldn't give it up. |

If you like throwing away $90 in less then 4 hours then get the above mentioned reels. It might last a couple days if you aren't constantly burning dbl 10's but otherwise its will go fairly quickly. Trust me I know from personal experience. |
