| I use the G. Loomis 7'7" heavy bucktail rod, MUR915C-HB. good rod. i use it for non-WTD topwater and some smaller cranks too. |

Location: West Chicago, IL | I have been using the St Croix Avid 8FT. THe rod is a little too stiff and doesn't seem to cast well and the hookups could be better I think. |

Location: minocqua, wi. | just had a diamondback custom 8'6" made by Keith Terlinden at Professional Edge. it's simply awesome. lightweight with lots of backbone and a tip with the perfect speed for throwing big bucktails, it's my first time with the bigger and softer cork on the rod too and it's worth the custom on it's own. in a year's time i'll be cycling through what i've got and have the fleet of Pro-Edge rods collected.
i would suggest going with at leat an 8'6" ... coming to the boat with the bait is a new world with a longer rod ... getting the bait into a big, wide and deeper oval or 8 with less effort means having a quieter body that won't spook as many fish having to move yourself around while they are there ...
they are that good and well worth it. |

| I second the 8' Bulldawg rod but the cats meow is a Diamondback 7'10" custom. I have thrown a buddies 8'6" Pro Edge that I am thinking of getting too.

Location: Apollo, PA | My two piece heavy Professional Edge 8' 6" maybe my favorite rod. Will throw all the bucks and alot more. Also will go anywhere. I will probably get another for my son, or just to have in the boat.

| For the big bucktails and just about everything that heavy action blank is awesome. It still has quite a bit of flex at the tip so smaller sized baits can be thrown very efficiently as well. Keith is a great guy and awesome rod builder. His prices can't be beat either. I have two of his 8 footers and am planning on grabbing a 8'6" all heavy blanks for me. |

| like matt said go with the heavy...i have a 8 footer and a 8 6 both heavy, and i can throw anything from small bucktails rattletraps up to pounders and large suzies!!! ssshhhhh dont tell keith!!! i am however ordering one of his xxx rods for those suzies and pounders though! but his heavy action rod can nhandle anything big or small. |

| I built and used a 9 foot heavy with my Okuma and the power handle for the first time fishing with Lambeau this week. I picked up my 8 footer after that and it just did not feel right. I sold my 8 footer the next day.
I would agree with what others have said. I would suggest the heavy because it throws just about everything but ......IT WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR THE POUNDER OR THE BIG SUZZY SUCKERS.....

Location: South Portsmouth, KY | Another vote for the 8ft St Croix Premier. The only problem with the rod is if you are using too heavier of a bucktail or one that pulls and pushes alot of water (like a double cowgirl) the rod will bow some in the figure 8 restricting the speed of your 8. |

| Another vote for the 8' Premier MH for small to medium bucktails. For larger bucktails like Llungen Tails and cowgirls I use my 8' Avid Heavy - another sweet rod. |
