Posts: 24 | First time on WBL Any thoughts on colors / patterns / Locations ? Specifics: Severe Cold front: NNW Wind 10-15mph Overcast skies Here are my thoughts from looking at the DNR Map. Windblown side Ordways Bar (1) around Manitou island N and E side (2) Black hair / Small Reefers / Slow top Water. Any help would be great ! !

Posts: 51 | You've picked good spots. The water is pretty clear, so natural colors seem pretty good, but I've also had lots of luck with white. Given the overcast skies, I might think about white if I were you (both bucktails and spinner baits). Turth is there are some many good spots on WBL, find weeds or rock, or both, and then get your hooks wet. I found I see more fish than have biters, but maybe that's just because its pretty clear water.

Posts: 24 | Caught 1, lost 1 The up side is I lost the shorty. I caught a 40" on a 9" granny and lost the shorty on a Shallow Invader. I will be back to try that lake again. The place is a train wreck when is comes to structure. It could have been the weather, but the mid week pressure was very minimal.

| Anyone spend much time in the jungle areas of white bear; like the snyders and gardenette bay over to the north side or the East shore. Or are you mostly all running the structure areas. I think I will try to get out there a few times next week. | |||

| I've only fished it twice but have had most success deep in the weeds on the nw side. We pulled four muskies out in about 2 hours after nothing for the first 5 hours last time I was there. Nothing very large but fun none the less. I think we picked up a few pike and largmouth on hair baits and small large shads. White was the color. We picked up most of the pike around the public beach area on the east side. | |||

| Yes my brother nabbed a 53 incher this week, on a black bucktail.... Good spots are indeed Ordway's bar, Manitou Island, the southern shore (middle section, near brick 'n mortar shore wall), and southeast area a bit north of the apartment building (follow the weed dropoff from this building out toward the middle of the lake). Bald Eagle's good, too.... | |||

| Just to clarify, I indicated four spots in the prior message. A milk run. Put in at the boat landing on the north end of the lake. (1) Travel east/southeast a bit to hit Ordway's bar. Cast and drift the north dropoff of this bar. (2) Then shoot over to Manitou Island. Hit the dropoff on the southeast edge/tip of this. (3) Next, shoot over to the southern shore, roughly in the middle of it. Look for a brick and mortar wall. Find the 12-15 ft. weed edge. Work this out toward the middle of the lake. (4) Finally, head east to the southeast corner of the lake, looking for an apartment building on the lower east/southeast shore. Find the weed edge starting from this area, traveling back out toward the middle of the lake, north/northwest. This area has given up some big ones 48-50 inchers. Nice ones up to 53 inches have been taken and released from these four areas. I know there are other spots, but these are the ones we've found over the years to pop the big ones. Hit this lake on an overcast day, if possible (53 incher). Otherwise, 5-7am is good, if it's sunny out. | |||

Posts: 699 Location: Hugo, MN | It's one thing to talk about spots everyone knows, since the county is nice enough to mark it for us, i.e. Ordway, but don't you people think tossing out info like specific depths along with weed edges and spots only contributes to fishing pressure? It's one thing to say oh yeah hit the Northwest side of the island but should one really add look for the rockpiles in 6 ft of water just west of the bullrushes? I think those things are better left for PM's I have seen too many morons out on WB leaving the launch to run to the taxidermist to get their 41-45" fish "Mounted" Edited by marine_1 8/27/2004 11:10 AM

Posts: 26 | Someone is either REALLY helpful, or pulling our leg... Why in the world would you post your brothers 53" on the Metro Musky post, the TC Metro post, and the White Bear thread and then give out exactly where these prime spots are...does your Bro not want to pimp his own fish Bootsy? I guess I'm more of the "Give an area lake and pattern" kind of guy for lakes that get hit this hard already. My favorite is already getting pounded as we speak I'm sure (Favorite Lake that is, the other better be at work TMan

Posts: 27 | Kudos to Bootsy Scooter! I am sure there are many who fish the metro lakes who struggle to get on fish as i do. i have spent most of this season concentrating on White Bear with many follows and a few lost fish but none in the boat. I am glad to see others enjoying success. As far as the spots given out, most of them are marked on the hotspots map. As to how specific he gets, i say well done! I for one appreciate the info and intend to put it to use. If not for the spot, then the pattern implied. I can't really understand why anyone would bash the guy for giving up 4 spots when, as has been said before, there are a million unmarked spots on White Bear. I guess if you are a guide and make your living getting paid for this type of info I could understand it a bit better. Now if I only knew what lures and colors where working out there! Tight lines all, Steve

Posts: 1 | Went out last night. Raised one fish off of the Island with a Phantom. Tons of Baitfish on the surface. The bass must have been active cus they were blowing up on them all night. These jetskiers kill me. Some real piece of work zooms ten yards from me and stops. Then decides to peel out of there. Too bad I just throw the jackpot out otherwise I may have had to try for a real pig.

Posts: 699 Location: Hugo, MN | Screw it throw the Jackpot at them! Actually, I'd rather throw the Wabull at them, it's heavier. Hey rookie did you get my mail?
