Posts: 171 Location: Cedarburg, WI. | Any recommendations for crankbaits? Or other baits? Looking to toss something out and keep it down in the 15-20' range. Also I am casting not trolling. Thanks guys

Posts: 684 Location: Sycamore, IL | Countdown depthraider would be a good choice in a crankbait to get that deep.

Posts: 409 Location: Almond, WI | Maybe try a Bulldawg with the new Heavy Head accessory? I haven't tried them yet but it should work. Or I have seen guys attach bell sinkers to them.

Posts: 143 Location: La Crosse, WI | I'd throw rubber, you can always count them down before you start retrieving. Also muskies will come up to eat a bait. I'd feel comfortable throwing grandmas and depth raiders even if they only go down 8 feet or so.

Posts: 4269 Location: Ashland WI | I use the royal Orba for this all the time. Count it down some and slow reel back.

Posts: 866 Location: NE Ohio | if you want to consistently stay at that depth range..............got to be a BONDY product! you'll end up wasting too much time at a shallower depth on the up swing on any lure on the distance you can cast.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Are you fishing in 15-20 feet or trying to present baits 15-20 feet down? It's pretty tough to get a bait to stay 20 feet down on a cast. 15 is probably fairly reasonable with a Pounder but even 20 will require a pretty good count down and a slow cadence or lots of pauses to keep it there. Add in the down swing and up swing of the cast and it won't be at 20 feet for long. All that said, do you think you need to keep baits that deep? Even on lots of cisco lakes I don't know if you need to get baits down more than 10-15 feet most of the time. If you do need to keep that depth, I agree with the others about vertical jigging.

Posts: 171 Location: Cedarburg, WI. | Trying to present at 15-20'. I am more or less experimenting at this depth. I would think you are probably right at the 10-15' range. Thanks for all the feedback fellas.

Posts: 612 | wallydiven - 6/7/2016 4:51 PM Double D and triple D cranks? A treble D works to about 12 - 13 ' feet so it approaches 15 FOW, A douple D only goes down about 6'. Thought you might like to know.

Approximately 50 yards of line out and I'm bouncing bottom at 18' with a dd, but that is trolling. So you could be right if you're talking casting.

Posts: 965 | Big Joes, Mojoe's are very good for getting deep Bulldawgs with a Stealth Tackle 1oz weighted leader is good also. For cranks best I have found is a 7.5" scuba from Big game they will get 14'-15' down on a cast. Bondy's would be good choice also. Jeff Hanson madisonmuskyguide.com
