| So i'm picking up my boat next week. I've never had a 4S only two Stroke. Is there anything different i need to do for winterizing it.
motor on my boat is a 2015 Mercury 150HP 4S with power steering.
Oil and gear lube was just changed?
I'm thinking i'll add stable to the gas as a precaution. Anything else i need to do? If needed i will bring it into a marine shop, I've always winterized my Two strokes on my own in the past.
I live in MN so even though it will be in a garage, sometimes it gets below freezing in there. |

| NEVER use stabill or any type of additive for winterizing or daily use that has Alcohol in it. Evinrude 2 + 4 is all you should use year around.No need to winterize gas.This comes from a Top Mercury engineer and engine builder for Merc for over 30 years and he says use 2+ 4.Alcohol destroys engine parts. Look at Gasahol or todays midwest fuel pumps in general.Only 10% because it causes engine damage.

Location: Hayward, WI | Giving another vote to Sea Foam. I had problems after using Stabill before. Also was using ethanol gas with the Stabill. Now I use only non oxy gas and Sea Foam and have had no problems. Winterizing for me is just running Sea Foam through the tank on the last trip of the year (and usually add some a time or two during the season), changing the oil and lower unit lube and done.
Seems like I have heard to NOT fog an EFI also. Not sure if there's truth to that but the last motor I fogged with my '95 2 stroke 40 hp Evinrude I owned several years ago. |

Its funny cause i have heard don't use sea foam, is it breaks everything loose and causes clogs... |

So i could use the marine grade stablil, that doesn't have alcohol correct? As i know alcohol attracts water, which is why you don't want to use alcohol additives. |

You heard incorrectly. Not even close to true, actually. Use the Sea Foam, your results will be excellent. |

Location: davis,IL | Another vote for Sea Foam, 1 can to 20 gallons of gas. I just picked up a lightly used Mercury 5hp 4 stroke that sat for a while. While it runs it does not want to idle down, ran 1/2 can of sea foam in a 1 gallon can and ran it for 1-1 1/2 hours. Its not perfect on low idle but noticeably better. I will probably remove and clean the carb anyways during the winter, but it goes to show how good just running a heavy "dose" of sea foam did on its own. |

| I've been using sea foam for years in my lawn mower, snow blower, even the chainsaw gets a bit in the fall, because you can never get all the gas out of any of them even if you run them dry. Used to use it a lot back in the day when all the cars were carbureted.
It's never done any harm to my knowledge. I can't say it's helped anything, either, because how would I know?

| Seafoam here as well, in a Johnzuki 140 4s.
Zero issues with it the last two seasons, the Suzuki DF140 I had for two seasons before that and the old ('91) Johnson 150 2s I had before that. |

| Ive always used marine formula stabil and no problems here.
had a 115 merc 4 stroke, now have a 90 suzuki four.
also have a inline fuel water separator, but im guessing thats the norm now.. |

| Although I agree Sea Foam is excellent stuff, I also run Ethanol Treatment Stabill in my Merc 90 4S with all of my gas. Without the motor will run goofy sometimes, with it my motor runs like a top consistently.
Also to answer your original question, I just change the lower unit oil and keep up with regular maintenance. My boat wont rest for very long so I see no reason to fog and do all of the extra stuff. |

Location: MN | Mercury like yamaha makes their own conditioner and stabalizer. You don't use that during the warrenty period and something happens they can void out the warrenty. |
