Posts: 9 | I have a depth raider that is not flat on the sides. It kind of gets bigger and smaller as it goes down the sides. Is it an old one or what is the deal. All the others I have are pretty much straight/flat down the sides. Not sure where I got it but I know I've had it for at least 9 years. It's the only one I've ever seen like it. Any thoughts?

Posts: 9 | It's not warped it was for sure made that way. It's never been in the boat but for the last few weeks and never left just laying on the deck. I don't remember ever even using it. A few pics so you can see it segmented and is perfect all through the bait and all the way around. If it was warped it would not be perfect like it is and like I said it's probably never even been in the water more then a time or two. Posts: 253 | I had the same thing happen to shallow raider. Took it to the Chicago show and they said exactly what everyone else is saying, it got heated up some how. Mine still runs good though. Steve

Posts: 156 | Im not sure I 100% agree with the heat thing, unless it actually happened in production. I've had a handful of DRs that came with some "dimples" right out of the packaging (back in the day). By "golden ticket", I assume the insinuation there is that these DRs with dimples work "better". I can't say one way or the other, but I've seen this alleged before. My "investigation" into this matter with my own 30+ DRs is that the ones with dimples seem to rattle louder (for whatever reason). I came to the conclusion that perhaps on some waters these louder DRs may be more effective. Just my $0.02.

Posts: 9 | That looks just like mine but mine has sit in my house for about 9 years. It doesn't have any hook rash at all. I don't remember it ever looking any other way. mystery solved. I don't care for the color so I think I'll paint it something purdy.

Posts: 86 | The older DR's were made of a different plastic composition. The lips are cloudy looking and discolor some over time. These have a much higher pitch rattle that latter dr's. From the look of the bill on your nightshiner one I believe it is an older higher pitch rattle model.

Posts: 1141 Location: NorthCentral WI | There are structural cross sections inside the lure for strength and keeping the rattles in position. I'm sure the lure won't warp or bulge as much next to the cross sections which accounts for the Mr. Hankey shape. Not all that mysterious.

Posts: 9 | Took all the hooks and split rings off it to start sanding it and it has no rattles in it. I'm guessing that's normal. I only have a few of them and don't recall if they have a rattle in them or not and my other two are in my boat and covered and stored away. Rattles, no rattles, what's the verdict? Also says buchertail depthraider on the bottom

Posts: 156 | Ok, seeing the pics...thats different than what I was talking about. I was referring to "dimpling" sound the chambers where the hooks hang. What is shown in the pics...I now agree it looks like heat warping. I've never seen that before. Wow.

Posts: 9 | I believe that it's heat that caused it but, the funny thing is I was looking at a jointed D R I have today while out fishing same color as the one pictured/ Night shiner and its warped the same way. Strange thing is those are the only ones that did it.
