Posts: 494 Location: midwest | I have used the Dean rojas sunline frogging braid which I assume is the same braid. It was very durable braid that didn't fray easily. The stuff I had held some water if that matters to you.

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | I wasn't aware that Musky Innovations had a line out? I was given a small spool of Sunline white braided line. It was free so I can't complain. The line held a lot of water & didn't seem to cast as far as PP. Until some major new improved line comes out I'm sticking with regular Power Pro.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | For me its hard to go away form Cortland of Power Pro for line. I may have to pick some of this line up though this year at a show to try it out on one of my lower use rods to see how it works. hard to beat the other two though. They have been in use a long time and I know they have a lot of R&D behind them... JMO James

Posts: 415 | I'm with you James and some of the other guys, I have experimented some with other brands but still haven't found anything I prefer over PowerPro. Haven't tried Sunline yet but would be curious to do so.

Posts: 494 Location: midwest | The line that performed the best for me is still Sufix original performance braid. I did try a spool of 80lb poer pro super slick last fall and liked that line too. After I put some more time on it this year I will know if I have a new favored line.

Ya, if Musky Innovations can lock down the color bleed issues and the line is quality they may have a good product here. I don't care for green shoes...that used to be white either JMO James

Posts: 944 | I switched to Hi Seas grand slam braid from power pro 2 years ago, no bleeding line and liked it better than power pro. It casts great and repels water so is great when its freezing out Jeff Hanson madisonmuskyguide.com

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | I have been using Power Pro on my bass, walleye, & musky reels for over 6+ years & have NEVER had issues with the color bleeding. I have used the Stren Sonic braid that turned my hands green but never with Power Pro.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Instead of talking about other lines I'll actually answer the question... Yes, I've used this braid since 2010 initially as Sunline FX2 and now as the M.I. Musky Braid. I've used most other lines available and this product it superior to anything I've ever used and anything on the market and here's why: - high level of quality control sorting and eliminating imperfect strands - weaved under higher tension and higher tension creates a tighter weave than the competition - the tight weave creates a round braid that doesn’t flatten like all other braids - the tighter weave with less void spaces doesn’t pick up water like other braids - other braids attempt to use a coating to fill voids and this, as we all know, wears off quickly - the tighter, nearly void free, braid creates a higher tensile strength at a thinner diameter All of the above creates a line that doesn't wear like traditional braids. I used to put new line on all my reels in the spring and reverse it halfway through the season and repeat each year. I just changed the line on the first reel I put this braid on in 2010. If I'm getting more than twice as much time from a single spooling I'm saving a ton of money on braid AND getting a better product.

Location: Sawyer County, WI | OK, I'll bite. What color/weight are you guys using ? So far I've seen dark green/blue in 80lb at $39 for 230 yards. If I can find a reasonable deal I'll give it a go.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | dfkiii - 2/7/2013 7:44 PM OK, I'll bite. What color/weight are you guys using ? So far I've seen dark green/blue in 80lb at $39 for 230 yards. If I can find a reasonable deal I'll give it a go. I've used both green and the camo blue/green in 80 and 65. I like the blue/green and I'm hoping someday they'll make it in all blue or white. The diameter is smaller than other braids, the 80 is nearly the same as many companies 65. With other braids smaller diameter can create problems causing it to cut itself on the spool, the Musky Braid remains round and therefore resists cutting into itself. As far as pricing goes, you're getting more than a reasonable deal at regular price because this line will outlast any other braid. Just noticed the comment about this line holding water which surprised me. Musky Braid is weaved so tight it holds less water than anything I've ever used or tried on other reels. My litmus test for a line that is or isn't going to hold water is to push it against itself and see if the braid will open (kinda like a chinese finger cuff), if the braid opens up at all it will hold lots of water - Musky Braid doesn't.

Posts: 380 Location: Michigan | I am not sure I can add a whole lot more than what Will has already stated. I agree with everything he said. I too have been using this line since 2010 and truly love the performance. I have tried virtually all of the braided lines out there and prior to Sunline, settled in on Spider Wire Invisabraid and Cortland Masterbraid. I like both of those lines but not as much as Sunline. As Will noted, it wears so well that it is cost nuetral. And for the added performance you at least have to try it. I use it on all my muskie reels now.
