Posts: 241 | Any good "go to" recommendations for smaller baits - smaller as defined as the 6-7" range. I'm just getting too old to throw the big stuff. Joe Bucher has a nice line up of smaller depth and shallow raiders, I've got the Rattle Baits and Spring Dawgs. What am I missing ? Backdraft

Posts: 283 | I like rapala glidin' raps- they are easy to work, cast a mile and catch fish. I just picked up a 6-7" squirrelly phantom that looks really nice also and is quite easy to work. Magic makers are in the size range also and are super easy to work. 6" hellpuppy, he'll I guess any 6" glider should fit the bill. Spinnerbaits can also be a lighter bait that produces and they are pretty easy on your body for a full day casting. Spoons are also pretty easy going, I love dardevles.

Posts: 1660 Location: central Wisconsin | Slammers in 7" work great and they last. Phantom softail in 6" also work great. Both baits have great quality like consistent action and they don't break or lose their paint.

Posts: 865 | I would recommend a few small 5-6 inch WILEY LURES straight and jointed in natural and bright colors. Can Never go wrong with those in your boat....YMO Mike

Posts: 396 Location: Northern Illinois | Go around the weeds, or weedline, with these bad boys and see if your fishing suffers: 1. Mepps Musky Killers or Hirsch's Original Ghost Tails 2. Bucher Slop Master 3. Any of the 6 inch twitch baits (Slammer, Grandma, Crane, Big Game, Shallow Raider) 4. Hawg Wobbler 5. Bagley DB06, Monster Shad, or Baby Depth Raider 6. 6 inch Phantom Softail 7. Excellent suggestion on Wiley Musky Killers 8. Tallywackers or AHL Lac Seul Mini 9. Hughes River 6 inch Shaker or Hughey 10. Lloyd Jones 6 inch Bowed Balsa Crank

Posts: 245 | I like the 6' Big Game and a custom bucktail which consists of a #8 fluted indiana a large bucktail skirt and a 1 ounce bullet weight. Also the Tyrant Tackle Shallow Czar has been awesome for me! The bill is brittle and the paint will fall of but the thing catches fish!

| Speed is a good substitute for size, burning baits with reels like the 300ej can really work well. BR | |||

Posts: 1348 Location: Pewaukee, WI | I'm with you buddy! At 75 I don't throw the big stuff either any more. Try spinner baits in the 1 - 1.5 oz. size and sluggos in the larger sizes. They're a good bet too. Rapalas, Ernies, etc. are all good baits that don't take a lot of effort to use, but are still good producers.

Posts: 7115 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | If I HAD TO go small... 1. Bomber Long A Magnum 2. Little Ernies 3. Spring Dawg 4. X-raps 5. 6" Jakes 6. 6" HR hugheys and shakers If those 6 dont get it done, I'm just going home.

Posts: 111 | And the winner is !!! 7" Weighted Suick in your favorite color. The smaller Reef Hawgs and Smitys jerks thrown in for good measure. These smaller jerks flat out catch fish. And you can fish them RIGHT all Day!!!
