| I would love to add a clear coat to a number of my jerkbaits to preserve the colors, and also add a little weight. I have heard that Envirotex and Minwax would work, but any suggestions for application would be great. Is it better to spray it on, or brush. I know that I am out of my league on this so that is why I am asking. Thanks in advance. Pal | |||

| Pal, Use the Envirotex Lite non-spray. The best way to do it is to brush a coat on, go to the next bait and so on. After a couple 2-3 baits, brush the excess off. Repeat the next night. Keep the baits in a warmer area (not outside) as the temp helps the curing process. IMPORTANT!!!!! 1. Mix as closely as possible 2. Make sure you exhale on the baits to get rid of the bubbles. 3. Read the directions If you do these things I think you'll do just fine. | |||

| we put the instruction manual for envirotex on our website www.lurebuilding.nl it's sold by a company called "environmental technologies". | |||

| Many epoxy's are yellowish or turn yellow w/ age. Envirotex Lite is the way to go- I found some at the local ACE Hardware Store- just follow the instructions & use rubber gloves. Ive also seen it in craft supply shops. For more info and where to purchase see -> http://www.eti-usa.com/consum/envtex/envlite.htm Good luck Al Warner www.thezaltsarecomingtonorthamerica.com[:bigsmile:] | |||

| Many of the "smaller" hardware stores have it. Manards and Home Depot do not carry it. I got mine @ True Value. | |||
| |||
| You can also get it at Hobby Lobby | |||
| |||
| Menards now carries Envirotex. They have it in quantities as large as 1 gallon. | |||
| |||
| Scott, wich menards is that at, I have been looking for the gallon size. Let me know. Hey wanna hit some water in the near future. Jim | |||

| I was told that Cystal Sheen, also made by the same company as envirotex lite, dried harder and faster. There is another product superior to both, but I gave my word that I wouldn't spill the beans. I heard that if you're not spinning the lure, let envirotex set up for a while before application and keep in a cooler area to reduce runs. | |||

| A very cheap and easy fix that I use on lures is a clear coat nail polish. This will last for many outings. It comes with its little brush and there is no mess. Two coats, ten minutes, and your ready to pound! [:kiss:] | |||

| You guys are carrying this way too far. Rust-oleum. Crystal clear enamel. $3 buys a spray can full at your discount retailer. It aint rocket science. If the lure gets bit I am not going to repaint it till its about bare wood anyway. | |||

| Pal There was a complete article in essox angler a couple years ago by Rob Kimm on how to apply envirotex lite to lures, it took you through all the steps and by following this article I achived perfect results the very first time using this stuff,,If you would like a copy of the article send me a self addressed stamped envelope and I will mail you a copy, let me know if you want my address | |||
| |||
| Hi HH, Please shoot me your address when you have a chance and I will send out a self-addressed envelope. I do not subscribe to Exox Angler, but would appreciate a copy of the article when you have a chance. I have a few lures I would like to try a clear coat on this winter Pal | |||

| I hate to let this out of the bag but.............sometimes shiny is not the way to go. There are times when a very bleached out dull finish will out fish any of the shiny color preserved lures. I have a few baits that I have hung out in the sunlight to fade the finish. You will have to figure out which ones to do this to on your own. | |||
| |||
| Looks like i need to find a motor for spinning my baits now!Darn it there goes more money for muskie fishing. | |||
| |||
| Pal, The biggest thing you need to be aware of with envirotex is the mixing of the product. You MUST follow the mixing instructions to a T or the product will not harden. It will stay soft forever. Cheers, J.P. | |||
| |||
| I also hear a lot of great things about a product called 'crystal clear'. hey JP, how you been? It's been a long time since I heard from you. How's the wife and the kid? | |||
