Sorno doesn't have to stare at pictures anymore, because the replica of his record tiger muskie has found it's way home where he can relive the moment whenever he wants to.

special thanks to Rick Lax for doing such a stellar job on this fish. we placed a picture on the side of the repro last week, and it was absolutely stunning how perfectly he matched the colors. those Utah tigers are a tricky grey/silver/green color and he nailed it right on. Lax even has rounded tiger fins to get the small details right.
Sorno just kept saying, "that's the fish! that's the fish!"

Rick is an amazing and dedicated artist. he actually painted up 3 complete replicas of this fish in order to get it just right. now that's the kind of dedication that we're lucky to have as dedicated catch-and-release fishermen!

congrats again, Sorno. enjoy!!!

YEAAAAAHHH!
When I carried that in from Rick's rig, I felt like I was delivering the Lombardi trophy to the Super Bowl.

Heck of a job Sorno and Rick. Mount looks terrific! I won't forget Sorno nearly hyperventalating in front of everyone. That moment was definitely PRICELESS!

Great looking fish, and as stated before, if Esoxlady and I caught the MN state record that day (2-4 lbs over), you would of kicked our Keisters in our Match Fishing Outing on that day! I must ask this question...why is the fish facing the other way vs. the photos you have shown(unless there are other shots that we are not aware of), and secondly how can a replica be made of a critter that has the porportions of your Utah freak? I sure no other speciman has been tossed in plaster or whatever goop they use to even remotely reproduce the critter you got. When you get her again, and feel she/it/him is over 50 lbs, please take an ice pick to it's noggin. I just might then get a replica of a "Baby Got Back" w/ stripes to say this is what the WORLD RECORD mix up looks like. I hope you enjoyed your adventure to dah Nort Woods!

I'll let Rick handle the technical aspects of how to reconstruct a fish reproduction from measurements and photos. All I know is that it accurately represents the fish I held. "That's the fish"

Rick can answer that more precisely, but i believe he used the head from an even larger true muskie to get the head:body proportion right, he used the body from a Great Lakes strain muskie mold to get one that remained fat throughout it's length, and he used actual tiger fins for the molds of those.
a creative combination to match the dimensions of this beast.

Whatever he did, he got it just about perfect from what I can see; most importantly, Sorno says..."That's the fish!"

Nice job, Rick, and what a FISH!!

They don;t come any prettier than that...

It was worth the 6-1/2 hour drive up just to see the look on Sorno's face! Kind of a combination of "huh?", "Who ME?", "Wha?" and "HOLY...."

Wow, its crazy how good that reprodcution is, absolutely beautiful!
I have a pretty good tiger fishery nearby, both for numbers and trophies, and while I may never see a specimen of that size, I am sure i'll have that fish in mind every time a fish hits...
