What a beautiful day. Should be out fishing but I am stuck at this crappy job. Both today and yesterday.

Raining here in the North Metro, MN. Just fired up the sprinkler system and it starts to rain, the lawn was a little thirsty...

Beautiful indeed! My son and I hit the Wi. River here in central Wi. for some pre-season walleye action. Caught loads of 'eyes, mostly males still in the spawning mode. Also caught some bonus pike, large, and smallmouth bass. The highlite of the day came when I boated a 34-35" sturgeon. What an awesome fight. The rod was doubled over and couldn't move the fish off the bottom for all of 20 minutes. Of course I pulled a Lambeau and left the camera at home! Fun way to start the season.

It was incredibly awesome weekend.
For atleast the 10th year I was chasing gobblers with my great friend Darrel Mack (DH BUC), and a local guide who has also become a great friend, Bob Gates. We don't need a guide to hunt "the monster toms", but as a former lumberjack, Bob has access to over 15,000 acres of prime turkey hunting real estate. After all these years of going with Bob, it wouldn't be the same hunting without him!
Darrel and I both shot a turkey, mine on Saturday and Darrel's this morning, near Plain, WI.
This time of year, what a beautiful part of God's green earth we were in!
If we can't be out muskie fishing, chasing Toms up and down the "mountains" is a blast!
What a great time to be in the woods!
Only 363 days until we are back!....Gobble.......Gobble!

Sad weekend for me....but a new happy Tuffy owner Ted Sherga is now. I am temporarily boatless, but got to spend some time with a good friend and got to shoot the bs with some others that were at Thorne's while I was there.

AND, the drive afforded me to opportunity to see a herd of deer, a dozen or so buffalo, a flock of turkeys, some sheep, a crazy lab mutt, and Knick the dog.

I'm working 120 feet up in a smoke stack at a Taconite Plant in northern Mn.

We are fixing the fiberglass around a few air pollution control probes. Lots of fun.... (Sarcasm) but at $88.00 an hr I'm not going to complain.

As a side note Lake Vermilion still has ICE on it ........ It will be gone in about a week I'd say ....... And I'll be down on the Fox Chain this Wens. Just in time for the muskie spawn...... yipee !!!!

What a great weekend to go fishing. WOW, I would have loved to had this weekend off and go fishing. Congrats to those who got out, must have been great.

Instead I worked Saturday morning, came home and cleaned the garage, moved the ice shanty into repair mode. Cranked up a nice backyard fire and chilled Saturday night. Sunday I calked the shack, replaced some wood, painted the shack and got the new runers ready for action. Should get another 10 years out of that shack. Now I can bow hunt this Fall without trying to fix the shack before the ice forms.

The Ranger is going in for a look around this week. I can't wait to get back in that boat every day again. Tough job.

Gave the boat a shake-down cruise on Pewaukee on Saturday. I installed a new locator and wanted to check out the features under some real conditions. The only problem was that I forgot to bring along the foot pedal for the trolling motor that is attached too. But everything else worked so the day wasn't a total loss. I didn't mark to many fish was the only problem. But it was a beauty of a day.

I took Mauser and the Gambler out for a shake down cruise yesterday. Great day to be on the water, but the wind was blowing muddy water up into our creek from the Ohio River and we didn't see a fish. Gambler seemed to run great, but I'm a bit concerned about low water pressure, will get a new impeller and go from there. m

I thought I'd do some hunting and fishing but the Iowa toms are kicking but right now so I kept after them, caught a musky last weekend and this weekend was way way nicer. Oh-well, can't be too places at once and turkey season only last 4 weeks.

Fished the FRV club tournament down here on the Fox Chain. Tied for third place! Only thing is we tied with 81 other teams, LOL! Broke a reel, got really sunburned. My hands, arms, back, and shoulders are hurting today.

Can't wait to get out and do it again!!

Opened the cabin for the season up in Iron county. Sat on a big boulder overlooking a good muskie spot, cocktail in one hand, cigar in the other...can't wait!!

Did a little shed hunting and scouting and found "the perfect tree" for next fall. 5 rubs leading to this cedar edge...not one smaller than my forearm!! )No sheds though)

While the water level is good in this area (good snow pack/run-off), man, I tell ya, there is some serious rain needed, real soon, in Vilas county to get some water up to full pool! The Manitowish Chain is lower than I can remeber seeing in a loooong time
