| I'm in the market for a new rod...
I currently have a couple rods in roughly in the 9' XH range and a 7'6" bass flipping stick that i utilize for skies along with some fly rods but that not really related...
Im looking for something a step up from the flipping stick... I'd like something light in hand with a crisp action.... fast action but not straight up stiff... Also, I prefer full cork rear grip (like the premiers have). I do a lot of river and canoe fishing and would like something a bit shorter for the canoe and also something with overall less weight (it can be amazing how much more a 9' rod weighs compared to an 8' rod)... For the above reasons i'm mostly interested in an 8' (versus a longer rod). For the muskie side of things i'd primarily be throwing things like shumway screamers (size 8 or 7 blades..?), 9" suicks, smallish phantoms, medium size top waters, regular bull dawns, and super shad raps....
i'm in North Dakota with no way to check out the rod in person very easily, and I hate buying a rod blind, but I think i'm gonna try it and if i don't like it, then return it...
SO, at this point i'm primarily interested in an 8' st croix premier muskie rod rated form 3/4 - 3 oz lures.... anyone have much experience with premiers and specifically that rod?

| I run a 8' H Premier. It is one one the two rods always on my deck. I use it for just about everything. I throw everything from Mepps Musky Killers, Hellhounds, crankbaits, etc. It is a great all purpose rod. |

Location: N.FIB | I have that rod and use it for smaller muskie lures since it does have some flex to it,the rod should be great for the lures you decribed |

| i have a PM76HF 2-6 oz lures I use this rod 80% of the time i am fishing. I also spend a lot of time in a john boat. Great all around rod. |

| I know your looking for a MH rod based on the 3/4-3 oz request but do yourself a favor and go with the H or even XH premier. I have the 7'6" MH, the 8ft XH and my bro has the 8' H. I dont use the MH anymore since the XH does everything the MH does but will also do a lot more. When using my brothers H I always want my XH back. |

| I have that rod. Its been treated poorly over the years and has held up great. Just as stated, great all around rod.

Location: West Metro, MN | Another vote for the 8' MH Premier. Bought mine this spring as a dowsizer paired with a NACL 50 and absolutely love it! Perfect for small bucktails and smaller jerkbaits. |

Location: Wisconsin | I looked at the three models today and I personally am going to get the 8' extra heavy as it will be much more versatile in my opinion. I thought the mh was to soft for most of the baits I throw. Good luck on your search. |

| my dad has the mh and it is his go to rod. has taken a ton of abuse over the years and it looks and handles like the day he got it. has went through several different rods in the same time frame and the st. Croix keeps on ticking.

The MH seemed too soft of a rod for my liking. I could see myself picking up the heavy if the XH was sold out though. I feel like my options are more limited with the MH than the other two. I was glad that I was able to try all three rods as it made the decision much easier for me. The MH felt like my Okuma Guide swim bait rod and that is basically a bass rod. JMO |

I agree 100% my XH will bomb a little mepps muskie killer& small cranks just as good as it does 13s and mag size rubber. Not a chance I would even try those big baits with a MH. |
