When do you use a baby girl? My dad picked one up and I'm trying to figure out when he should use it.

All year. Especially when you want to burn a bucktail.

You can also burn 8's all day long, so is there really and advantage to using a baby girl over a double showgirl? Perhaps I'm not getting it or I'm just buying into the go big or go home mentality of baits too much. The baby girl just seems so small.

There was a time on leech when small spinner baits and small musky candy bucktails were go to for big fish. Different blade sizes give off different noise/vibe. Double 6's have really done well for me, especially on pressured waters. BR

We used them all week last year on vacation. The first day and a half, all the action was on babygirls. We actually ordered more on Amazon (overnight Shipping) to get them to our resort for the rest of the week. They were hot lures and were getting beat up by the muskies.
The previous year they were casting pounders. Two years prior, they were catching them on a small vibrax. So it really depends on what's working.

For me, they have their place.  I use them quite a bit when larger bucktails are not working.  I have had success on them and own several colors etc...  Its all just personal perference and opinions.  Example, most on here talk about throwing DBL 10s all day and I have no interest in throwing 10s all day so throw them occasionally and mostly stick to 8s and below.

I use them almost primarily during times of low activity. I burn them in trying to induce a reaction strike. typically, I use them around cabbage patches over sand or just plain sand flats/right on the break. Otherwise, I'll be burning them over thick weeds, through reed beds, or wind pounded rocks.

I wouldn't be afraid to add a little weight to them either. This should help get you more distance on your cast and increase your retrieve speed.

Not a baby girl (IMO drones are better) but shows that you dont always need big baits to catch big fish.

We've done well throwing smaller blades (standard sized dreamcatchers) behind all the Double 10 's...sometimes it seems all people throw are Double 10's sometimes... variety...the spice of life.

There's also a harness available.
I believe it's slightly larger than the standard small dog harness.

Great Video & Great Fish.  Never used a drone but I will have to check them out.
