Last year I made a point of taking 5-6 baits out before I left and sticking with them all day. This forced me to stick with my plan and focus on presentation rather than the idea of trying to find the right bait. That worked pretty well as I averaged 1 fish every 1.5 trips.

This year I will focus on lakes with larger fish rather than numbers. I will keep with the handful of baits idea and continue to work deeper/ open water fish.

What's your plan?

Spend more time exploring new areas.
Fish more early mornings.
Stop and "smell the roses", a little more.

Fish new places with larger fish. Throw baits that I really haven't and enjoy the time with good friends and family!

So far this year, my game plan is to go to Dale Hollow Lake and troll a few times, fish the local rivers about 5 times, and fish the local lakes a couple of times, and not catch anything. 2014 is not living up to 2013 around KY...
I just looked at my book and by this time last year I had caught and released 5 fish. None so far for 2014.
I'm hoping my game plan changes for the better.

After doing chemo and surgery last summer my plan is to get out and enjoy more time on the water. Haven't really been on Musky First for about 6 months.

DJ I hope you have one awesome season. I am a two time survivor and retired who last summer averaged about three days a week on the water from May 1 thru October1. I had a great year and hope yo see 4 to 5 days this year. I live on the same lake but still catch my share.

Fish a lot harder this season, I didn't get out much last season.. I'd like to snag another 50", It's been a few years. And I plan to fish later into the season on the St. Lawrence when I'd usually be hunting.

Cover lots of water to locate new spots and learn new lakes. I'd like to teach more people to fish effectively. Also, put more effort into big fish lakes so I can get more 50s.

Here are 5 areas that I will be focusing on this year:
1.Cast and troll more blades.
2.Wade rivers more.
3.Start row trolling.
4.Troll big baits.
5.Utilize my GPS/ mapping to a greater degree.

Season starts for me on March 10th with a trip to Cave Run and then fishing IL waters until the season opens up north...counting down the days and looking forward to a great season!

I'll be wringing my hands over the next 10 months contemplating which Chicago musky show to attend.

The plan right now is to fish Cliff Lake in 2014 (thats a done deal). Between now and then its all preperation... including getting Esox Maniac back on the water with some cool new upgrades. I've already hit the Milw. Muskie Expo and Madison Fishing Expo (missed seeing Gerard though). Next is the Wausau show next weekend (Saturday)then Minnesota show (Saturday). Maybe New London just because its more intimate... and breaks up March!

Busy, busy, busy!

Have fun!

Get a new motor. Preferably one that doesn't blow up 4 months after warranty expires.
