Check out killer tails by ESOX Assault, they have a hollow tail for this application.

Here is my BAT, mounted on a treble. I just make a hole with a small nail and work grub body over the flatside of treble, then super glue flat side of grub to flat side of trebles shaft. These 5"  BAT's are poured with some hardener, so the tail stays somewhat straight during cast and tangles less. Talk about action in back of your DBL TEN   :)

Saw the killer tails at the Ohio musky show, definitely the way to go.

Here's some of the tails that I mold directly onto treble hooks

If you want to use a solid tail like a Kalins, I take them and split them evenly into 4 sections with a razor blade then re-affix around the treble shank with glue. I use dental floss to keep everything tight while it's drying then just clip it off once dry. You do get some rough edges from the glue at times but the tail is nice and centered and works great.

Esox assault killer tails are by far the easiest way to go. Love the color selection as well.

I've attached some pics of our Killer Tails. We have 6" and 7.5" sizes in 12 different colors. just get the hook off the split ring and slide it right on. Tail is offset so it gets out of the way of the hook.

Forgot to mention it's pretty easy to add the Killer Tail to a bucktail without tearing it apart. Just run a knife or scissors down the hole to split the body, pop it onto the hook, and glue it back together. Loctite super glue seems to work best.

my tip is just to don't add a single one, most of the time it ruins the crankbait action

Never tried it on crank baits but most jerk/glide baits are unaffected. I can only speak for the EA tails though and I think its because the tail isn't heavy and its longer so it works with the bait. . They work fine for me on bucktails, phantoms, hellhounds, big game twitch, shallow raiders

Question about the tails - do you guys find that matching the color of the tail up with the color of the bucktail works or do you switch it up to provide contrast?

I really like that red triple tail. Bet that thing is amazing behind some 10's. Nice work.

I frequently add 4" Mr. Twister double tails to baits just by using the tip of my knife to start a small hole in the grub body and push the hook through until the eye is exposed. Then just re-attach to the split ring. Works great and on most of the baits I'm using that with it's just the right size.

white or black...thats all i use no matter what the bucktail color is. i think its all about that extra flash/curly action to the bait.

For bucktails it's hard to beat jdsplashers tail. As for crank baits 8"+ you will definitely need to check out slammer tackle fish tail. Check them out on YouTube under bill schwartz
