Posts: 1360 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | Well I really think it depends on the lure and the color combo for that specific one. Only because one mans firetiger looks nothing like the next guys firetiger. One lure is orange/black can be a killer for me on a certain lure style. and then be the worst on the next lure style. So this is a hard one for me to anwser But for purposes of how the question was asked I would have to say Purple/gold is my favorite.... and tied for a close second would be Walleye and Chartruse/black.

Posts: 833 | A safe bet is to talk to folks who fish the water where you fish. Then mirror what they do. The downside to this approach is that you should also expect similar results. This would be the "play it safe approach". Of course color has it's ups and downs. If you look in the top 10 baits thread you'll see a whole range of stuff. I personally know of at least 4 guys in that thread that fish the same lake I do and they all have different baits and different colors listed. There is a lesson there.

Posts: 371 Location: Dixon, IL | Depends on water. I like bright color like firetiger for dark water. Natural color for clear water and silver or white for lot of shad in lake. Heavy fishing pressure If most throw black or perch then I try something different like bright pink or orange and chart.

Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | It's not black. I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Actually many here probably couldn't understand the scientific reasoning behind why its my favorite color. Well there are few , including jlong, Stan Durst, Howie Meyer, Spencer Berman, Beaver, and Mr. Worrall. If you see me at the Milwaukee show or the Madison Fishing Expo, ask me and I'll tell you the color and why. Have fun! Al

Posts: 1247 Location: Walker, MN | I had to realy think about this one. It does realy depend on the lure and even the time of year. I guess my go-to baits are usualy orange combinations but never solid orange. Black/orange, white/orange, brown/orange or gold/orange bucktails with another color mixed in.

Posts: 260 Location: Almost Heaven | BLACK: Because it is the only color that is darker than any light source background color, therefore fish can key in on the color black in all light conditions. Call it sillouette.
