Posts: 27 | I am looking at getting a new trolling motor and am stuck in between the 80lb terrova with ap & us2 or the 70 lb powerdrive with the same options. I would like some input on what people think of these two motors and how they compare. When I take a quick look at both the only difference looks like the 10lbs thrust and the foot pedal configuration. Any info or experiences with either of the two motors you guys could share would be great. Thanks!

Posts: 313 Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | 80 Terrova Ipilot. Don't skimp. You may not think you'll use its extra features, once you've figured them out which takes little to no time you'll be super glad you got it. Spotlock - awesome! Cruise control - wow! Track feature - super! If $$ is the obstacle save more, wait a little longer. The extra 10lbs WILL make a difference also. Phenomenal unit.

Posts: 537 Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | Cabelas in Hoffman Estates IL has a new i-pilot for a terrova in the "bargain cave" for $250 if anyone is interested. The guy there told me someone bought it and returned it opened. I would have taken it if it was for a power drive.

Posts: 10 | I have the Terrova and love it. I don't have the Ipilot yet but plan to get it this winter. Just with the AP, I spend way less time on the trolling motor. I can't imagine what it will be like with the Ipilot. Scott

Posts: 752 | One man's opinioin.... I've had both and its not even close. If you can afford the Terrova get it. Beyond all the technical benefits of I-Pilot and AuTo Pilot it stows and depolys about 50 times easier than the PD. The Pedal is also far superior to the one you get with a PD. IF you do not you will curse yourself everytime you are having trouble deploying your motor...

Posts: 279 | I think the big difference with the units is if you get Ipilot is that on the powerdrive unit the peddle will no longer work which absolutely sucks!!!

Posts: 272 | Had two PDs, one of them with AP, and when I got my new boat I sold the MotorGuide that came on it, and got a Terrova 80 AP. Very nice unit. As said, the stow/deploy of the Terrova sure makes life simple. And the foot pedal is much nicer than the PD models. You can turn the AP on and off with the foot pedal which is a big bonus. Speed adjustment on the Terrova is a roller instead of a slider. Better IMO. That, and I'm not sure if MinnKota worked the bugs out of the PD foot pedal or not, but the PD foot pedals were notoriously horrible in the reliability department. Folks who used them alot often carried an extra foot controller in their boat because they were a ticking time bomb. If you can afford it, you won't be sorry. If you can't afford it now, wait. Hands-down a better unit. Period. -Eric

Posts: 253 Location: On the water | My son-in-law has a Terrova 80 AP/US2. It is a great unit. But, I have had a Power Drive for about 10 years and have had zero problems with it. Never failed and has the same foot pedal. I'm not saying the PD is a better unit, but it's also a great unit. Good Luck, Tom

Posts: 81 Location: Indiana | I have the Terrova and love it, one other item to take into consideration is the Terrova is the newer model and will be supported longer if you do have an issue. Plus the I-pilot is more useful on the Terrova because you can still use the pedal.
