Location: Eau Claire, WI | Anybody know if Lowrance has upgraded internal anntenas so that you actually tilt the unit?
I'd love a 334 or 3600 but from what I've been reading. I should avoid these units as they are touchy.

| i have had NO problems getting or maintaining a signal with my 3600.
i've never experienced it to be "touchy", works just fine for me and i move it around to both the bow when casting and stern (tiller) when driving or trolling. it ends up getting twisted and turned at all kinds of angles and has always kept the signal. |

Location: Ogden, Ut | I've had my 334c for about 3-4 months now and have experienced no difficulties obtaining and maintaining contact w/ satellites. Of course I do periodically lose contact once in a great while, but probably less often than w/ my old unit (LMS 350a); and reaquiring the signal is quick - usually a matter of a couple of seconds. I've been very happy with it. Of course, on average I'm a bit closer to the satellites than most of you are

Location: Racine, Wi | I have the 3600 as well, and have had no problems. Like Mike, mine is turned, twisted, etc and I don't loose my signal at all. |

how the heck can you guys tilt yours and not lose signal? my 3600 has to be about 15 degrees off vertical at the most or it will not keep a signal...if you tilt it down any further it loses signal..it's on a ram mount on the top of the bow so there is nothing to interfere with the line of sight... I had heard other people were having the same problem as me...and there was some "upgrade" coming....

Location: Racine, Wi | Dude, I'm not laying on my back reading it. LOL I've tilted it up to read it from the bow (mines on a ram mount off the console) and it still holds it's signal fine.

| heck, i can even maintain the signal in my truck.
i put it up by the windshield to get locked in, and then i can put it down on the seat next to me and can usually still maintain a signal as long as i'm not driving through a "tunnel of trees" somewhere up north.
in the boat mine is on a Ram mount just like you describe.
that's weird...why would moving yours 15 degrees off vertical have any impact whatsoever on it's ability to pick up signals from satellites in space? wouldn't the change in angle you describe be all but meaningless since the satellite signals are coming in from a bunch of different points around the horizon (360 degrees horizontal) and in the sky (180 degrees vertical)? |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | Just got off the phone w/ Lowrance tech support. They acknowledged that there was antenna problem. They said that upgraded versions just started shipping and the tilt problem has been resolved.
There is no way to tell if you are buying an old or new version without pulling the serial number and calling lowrance.

Location: mad chain | I have a 334c that is at lowrance right now, the tech I talked to said they have had problems with some of the internal antenna unit's. Mine wouldn't lock in for a hour our better, and once it did lock in it would not stay locked in very long, I had in mounted all over the place and it still didn't matter. All I know is that it sure is disappointing to spend that much money and have the unit in the shop when I should be fishing with it.

I bought it with intentions to be able to put it up front on the casting deck when I'm working a key structure that I want to watch on the GPS. I thought it was great that it used the same connections as the 97 I use up there. I thought it was my standing by it that caused it to loose signal, but now after reading this, think it is the tilting thing. I will be sending it in.
I also had it lock up on me once and nothing would work. I figured out to reset it you hold the 2 zoom buttons while turning it on. Only thing is, I lost all my settings. Last 2 days I had to hide the sonar and unhide it to be able to access the dual screen map & sonar, happened a bunch of times.
It's not the rock solid Lowrance that I have come to know in all my past units.
I do like the unit but am not as impressed as I expected to be. I don't think I could give up the color graph. |

| I have the 334 and the only time I lose the signal is when I rest my hand on the top of the unit to adjust the settings. Nice unit! |

Location: Tomahawk, WI | No problems with my 334 receiving and maintaining a signal, however i run mine in split screen (map/Sonar) and this weekend it went to S#!^. When my map side is highlighted and If i hit menu/menu (to turn on/off "my trails" or do any other mapping functions) it does not put the menu up on the screen so its impossible to do anything. Jomusky is this what yours did? Did you learn the correction from Lowrance or did you figure that out by yourself? I have this question on the Lowrance question board, we'll see if the techs will even e-mail me with an answer. If they dont i will call them and bug the S#!^ out of them till they satisfy my needs. Pay all that money and use it for a few weeks and it breaks! real fricken cool. IM POed. |

| Lowrance told me today that if I want better connection with satalites buy the external antenna for an extra $228. DOesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of an internal antenna on the 3600? I am not to happy with lowrances response to most of my questions today. Then they tell me to spend more money for it to work right! I am really made about the money I spent on this!!!!!!!! |

Location: Girdwood, Alaska | I was having the same problem with our 334c losing signal, but I was told by someone to tilt it vertical and after doing that the problem was solved. Only lose signal when under a bridge or something. Its a great unit once you get that problem solved! |
